My iPod doesn't get Howard Stern :( Plus, it's a pain to take into and out of the car.

I had 12,000 tracks at one point, many of them full length CDs. I found that while driving, the last thing I want to do is try to pick a good song. It's really nice to have a Sirius DJ picking them for me. All I need is 1 or 2 commercial free stations to be happy, and I have like 10 that are pretty good. My IPOD gets no play unless I'm on a plane.

I just picked up my Solara, well ok, I picked it up yesterday, but I have to say I am very dissappointed. I paid $555 plus tax for the unit and the install from the dealer. The antenna is HUGE and the reception stinks! They also stuck it to my trunk with double sided tape or something. It fades in and out even when standing still! I have had sirius for years already with no problems with reception with other receivers. To top it off, they scratched the inside of the car, below where the heated seat buttons are and put a chip in my hood! Needless to say, it will be going back!
I will take pictures of the HUGE antenna and post them when I get a chance.

If they want to do warranty on the paint, tell them you'll pick the place and they'll pay for it. Toyota dealerships do (or subcontract) crappy paint jobs. They did my parent's Avalon nose and it lasted 1.5 yrs before is started to peel.

Back on topic tho... The '04 JBL was only XM compatible. Did they change that in '06? I assume so if it was an option at purchase.

Thanks for the advise. Actually I have an 07 and it was available as an option, however there was an issue with the antenna and it was not available as an option from the factory because of that. I should have taken that for a sign, but I didn't want anything junking up the interior of my new lara ( an external unit plugged into the aux jack).

I have an '04 convertible and the XM antenna is affixed to the trunk lid with double-sided sticky tape. No problems thus far, and it's not that annoying. Besides, black on black is hardly noticeable.

Yes, Sirius was added as an option for '06.

So, how does the display work for Sirius? Any different than my XM experience??

The display is integrated on the NAV screen. It only shows 6 letters of text though. I don't know how the xm one works so I can't say if it is the same.

My Sirius antenna is magnetic and I put it on the trunk. It stops working only if I stop under a roof of some sort. It's nice beccause I take it off every time I wash my car to prevent color changes

My last Sirius radio had a magnetic antenna, however with the dealer installed Sirius it is double sided tape stuck to the trunk. My car has been at the dealer since Monday. They tell me the radio signal is not going to improve. It is very bad. I have had satellite radio for over 3 years now and never had signal loss for more than a second or two. I told the dealer to take the radio out and refund my money. I can by a sirius visor for $60 and get a better signal! I really wanted it to be neat and clean with the factory install, but I guess I can tuck it in the door. I am very frustrated with my Toyota Dealer as they have had my 07 convertible more than I have in the 3 weeks I have owned it!

So like I was saying above, I have owned this car for 21 days, however I have only had it in my possession for 5 days!

My advice is stay away from Hartford Toyota Superstore, they dont know anything about what they sell.

Here is my car though (sitting at the service department of course)

And heres a picture of the Sirius Antenna. Sorry for the big picture but I wanted to show you how they had the wire hanging out of the back of the antenna going into the trunk.
