Hey, I'm looking at the Alpine IVA-W205 all of a sudden... with the intent I will "dock" the PMD-B200 NAVI unit later. (Seems like a good "two-step" bang-for-buck and performance choice to me...)

Any thoughts on this set-up?

Any links to pics and stats? I googled, but only came up with the ame pic over and over, and articles rather than detailed specs.

While I'm at it... what do you guys think of the "NEW" Alpine PDX series Digital Amplifiers?

I'm looking at the:

- PDX-1.600
- PDX-4.150
- PDX-4.100

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/product ... tegory=AMP

Driving some JL XR650-CSI components in the doors... and I'm still thinking about the SUB and MID's for the rear deck.

Nothing too fancy... but a good, clean system with a "stealth" sub that is potent, tight and clean low fill... (I don't need to rattle the rear-view mirrors in the car next to me... 8) )

Yeah... I know. I picked up a new brochure at my local stereo shop. The "STACKABLE" amps seem really nice, and classy. They also appear to be very well... shall I say, "endowed"?

I currently have a PDX-4.150 and the PDX-1.1000, these amps rock! and the solara's alternator doesnt get upset when you really get on them...

As for the W205, seems like a good solution, I am also waiting to see how it turns out.

May I ask what SUB configuration you are running to utilize the PDX-1.1000's power? :o

Sure! I am using the Alpine Type-R 1222D wired at 4ohms. Box is the custom box I was asking everyone about a few threads ago.

with the gain set at Minimum it pounds hard and tight.
Also, so you get a feel of what I listen to, I use a Dynaudio 240GT front stage ( soon to be the dynaudio 362) biamped by the pdx-4.150. I mostly listen to lots of Jazz and vocals Diana Krall, Norah Jones etc. but there is an occasion where I like the ghetto big bass.

NORAH JONES' vocals are unbelievable in some of her songs! I'm more of a "classic rocker"... but her vocal talent and SMOOOOOOTH delivery is simply irresistable to me. :D

I do everything from Gregorian Chants to Metallica... Baroque Favorites (Pachabel's Canon) to AC/DC... Greatful Dead, Phil Keaggy, Enigma and Green Day... Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues and Nirvana... Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Liz Phair and The Flaming Lips... The Velvet underground, Black Sabbath, Art of Noise and Satriani... Hendrix, Enya, Phil Collins and Bono... and a good Slack Key Guitar set from the Mahalo hybrid of the island sounds through the cowboys' fireside instrument, the "loose-strung-six-string" of the accoustic variety...

I believe it takes POWER and CLARITY to accurately render ALL of the genre effectively well... and deliver those subtleties that only then share their secret with our auditory ports of entry... so seldom savored for all their distinguishing prowess unspent...

Crisp~

From that type of music, I think PDX and Type R will fit the bill.
I met the Alpine sub designer and he's a metal/classic rock type of guy.
the type R from my understanding is to keep up with each and every note but also hit hard enough to feel it.

Try and get the two demoed if you can, even better if the sub is wired to 4ohms.

Good advice. The owner of the local car stereo place was out the other day... but his system is set up with the PDX, ALPINE HU, and I believe he is running the JL XR series throughout... I'll check his out...

I am also waiting to see a new 2.25" shallow depth sub... I think in a 12" and a 13.5"!!! that is supposed to work really well in under a cube of space! :o I think the guy said .65 or something! I would like to HEAR it because I'm REALLY wanting to have a clean, stealth install... and STILL generate really strong, full, low fill with the ability to HIT really hard if I want to. (I can't remember if it was a JL sub or a new Alpine sub...???) Have you heard of it? Supposed to be out in May or so?

(I'm also thinking seriously about the MB Quart QSD 6.5 component set up front... )

I thought the same thing but with the pdx and type r @ 4ohm combo, im very very impressed.

The R is a replacement for an IDQ 12 V2, so like you I know SQ.
