Need a PROVEN IPod interface for my '06 w/NAV

Postby kblanch1 » Mon Jun 18, 2007 12:02 pm

I am in search of a PROVEN interface to hook up my IPod to my 2006 convertible with factory NAV.
I've searched and gotten mixed signals about a number of different units. I'm sure that a bunch of folks have them installed...just trying to find one that I know will work.
There are a ton of them out there...but most say that they don't work with the Solara w/Nav.
Any help would be VERY greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks!!

Vaistech.com for full integration (displays song names on your OEM Nav screen).

Their product is now named the SoundLinq, I have their prior product.

Wow...for $225...Soundlinq is not a cheap solution. However...if it works well and comes with all the right connectors...it might certainly be worth it.

The other two options seem to be the USA Spec system and iSimple.
Has anyone installed one of these into their Solara with Nav? I'd love to hear how it worked out.

Call 1-800-551-1364 and tell them John sent you. They carry a ton, and you should get a great price. I used to work there. We did a couple of these with many different models...they should be able to answer your questions. If they do....post them up!

ISimple Installed

Postby red2002solara » Thu Aug 30, 2007 5:10 pm

Over the weekend I went looking for an iPod adapter for my 06 Solara. I have the JBL with 6-CD in dash changer; no nav or satellite. I found the ISimple adapter at Best Buy. It said the adapter would work with the 06 Solaras, but special harrnessing my be required. I bought it and had Best Buy install it for me. The system works great, and I can control the ipod from my steering wheel controls. I had them route the cord to my glove compartment where I keep the iPod stored. So anyone with an 06 model can check out the ISimple adapater; it works really good. And yes, it charges the iPod as you drive.

Does the iSimple give you access to playlists? I ordered this one:
http://www.neocaraudio.com/product_info ... ts_id=5005
It gives access to up to 99 playlists. It's for my wife's birthday, so it will be a couple of weeks before it will be installed.

Playlists

Postby red2002solara » Sun Sep 02, 2007 7:17 pm

If I want to access playlists I have to do it directly from the IPod. Ican't do it from either the stereo or steering wheel controls.

I just installed the Neo Car Audio iPod controller in my wife's 2006 SE with the base stereo system. The site says that it works with Nave also. The thread is here:

If someone can host the 1.5mb instructions they will be posted in that thread too.
