It is one of the best amps in existence. Period. $1,799 for it brand new seems reasonable, but I haven't been watching auctions for it... I wonder what the reserve is.

Only thing about this amp is, what do you plan to run on it? What type of components / headunit / processor will you be using?

This is for a serious system... If you aren't gonna do it EXACTLY right (meaning equally high quality components mounted in custom tuned locations, sound processor, equally high quality headunit, hours of tweeking and tuning, lots of sound dampening, etc...), there's no use blowing the wad for it.

waste of money. Unless you plan on spending over $3000 on speakers, you are wasting your money.

I had this amplifier for some time. Sounded really nice and was worth the money. but like everyone before me said; don't buy it unless you are willing to shell out some serious serious cash to make an SQ vehicle.

Plus be prepared to get a new alternator, the amp sucks so much power I would get goin faster when the volume was low or off than at regular levels!

Why were you looking into such an amp?

Alpine Amp

I was looking for a new amp to run with some focal 165k2p. I stumbled accross the Alpine amp and it looked like a good deal.

While those are very nice speakers, that amp is a bit overkill for them. You only need around 75-120W RMS to run those speakers flawlessly, so long as it's clean, true power.

For some amps that would be a very good match, you should check out:

If you wanted a matched setup (brand wise), Focal actually just recently released their amp line-up in the states and they're very nice. Their FP 4.75 is an awesome amp, very nice sounding with a huge frequency range. It's rated at 75Wx4, which is at the lower end of the spectrum for those speakers, but it's underrated and would drive them very well.

The Audison VRx 4.300 would probably be my favorite amp of choice for you and this setup. It's truely a phenominal amp, although kinda hard to find. It's rated at 110Wx4, which would be about PERFECT for those speakers, and it's very musical / tunable power. These are also expandable / customizable amps...

The Diamond Audio D6 700.4 is not quite up to par with the Audison, but is about comparable to the Focal amp above. It's the least expensive of the group though, and offers a huge bang for the buck. It sounds awesome, and runs 115Wx4 RMS, which is the high side of what I'd throw at those speakers.

Anyhow, these are just three of many available amps that would do the job well, but they're three amps that I think you would be extremely happy with (you can't go wrong with any of them).

Good luck man! You have some very nice speakers, I can't wait to see / hear about the setup you choose. Make sure you take some pics of your progress!

Take care,

-James

Great set of components, 1 pair or 2 pair?
Those front and rear would be ideal.

You still didn't say if your doing a total audio overhaul.

Keep us posted :)

Im all about Alpine in my car. I would go PDX 4.150 since they are soo small and efficient.

Like I said before, I had the f900 amp for a while and went to a PDX because of the size and the sound was very close.
