Installing a subwoofer

Installing a subwoofer

Postby SHOLARA » Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:13 pm

I have a subwoofer and an amp right now. I want to connect my sub to my car. I preferably want to use the stock HU. Could someone help me with a tutorial to install this.

If I need another HU, I also have one. If you could let me know how to install this, it will be truly appreciated

Thanks in advance.

hey.. its not that hard..
you are gonna need an aftermarket HU
basically:
-u run a power cable to the amp from ur battery positive with a 4 gauge wire or lower
-u ground the amp to a grounding pt in ur trunk
-Rca cables from ur headunit out to the amp
-power wire from the HU to the amp
-and speaker wire from the amp to the sub

run the power line from the battery on one side of the car and the power wire and rcas from the HU on the other side
I think thats about it explained really simply

or you can use the stock headunit, and just buy a piece that attaches to the rear 6x9's so that when ever the bass hits on the 6x9's the subwoofer hits also.

sounds better with an aftermarket headunit, but works if you use the factory one...

THanks for all your guys help, I'll see what I can do. When you say piece, what exactly is that piece.

Im in the same predicament. I have subs and a amp but no deck :( I know what I need to do but don't have that kind of dough to spend on a fancy deck that I like.

I was in the same boat as you and didn't want to buy an aftermarket head unit, so I bought a type-r alpine sub & alpine amp and hooked it up off my 6x9's with a line level converter.

Basically it sounds like total crap and I wish I didn't even have the sub hooked up at all now. Either wait until you can hook it up right to an aftermarket head unit, or don't do it at all.

That's just my 2 cents though.

^^^ do NOT do that, waste of money and never sounds as good as just getting an amplifier hook up kit

even if you have to go to walmart

ive seen em go for 30$
and they have instructions in them
do you have the premium sound package?
