Just installed Audio Adapter
Owners of '07 Solara's get this standard from the factory (maybe '06's too?) but my '04 SLE didn't have any auxiliary input for an MP3 player so today I installed one.
It's a PIE TOY-03 module purchased from Enfig ( http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/s ... 3_AUX.html ) for $59, free shipping.
Installation couldn't have been easier. I popped the center console panel out then the storage box which allows access to the rear of the radio. Now here's the trick..don't even try unplugging anything, you don't have to. Just feel around (blindly) and your fingers will discover an unused port in the back of the radio right next to a plug you can feel. You'll just plug the supplied harness into that hole (lock facing down) and you're pretty much done!
I created my own harness so I could put standard 1/8" stereo plugs in both the front storage and down in the center console storage box (next to the power ports in both locations) and plugged that harness into the RCA jacks supplied in the TOY module.
The (very basic) documentation that comes with the TOY unit says your auxiliary audio will come up on the radio screen as Disk 1 Track 1 and that's exactly what happened the first time I turned on the key. I was kind of hoping it would use the SAT input but no go there.
Bottom line, if you don't want to install multiple ports and run wiring through the cars harness clips (all time consuming) this can be a one hour or less job. It took me about three hours but most of that was creating (lots of soldering) the harness, drilling holes and shrink tubing everything so the wiring would look like it came from the factory.
Downside, my wife is so impressed with the sound and ease I now have plugging in my MP3 player she wants a module in her Highlander <g>
Cheers,
