I noticed mine are hissing and it gets louder everytime I accelerate. I was told it was because I have a 4 channel amp and no aftermarket headunit so I'm getting feedback. You guys get the same type of hissing noise? gradually getting louder whenever the engine revs?

if the hissing is RPM dependent than you're getting interference from your spark wires / ignition coil. Try new plug wires.

Ask Python Josh - he might have an idea where the hissing is coming from! :o

yeah, when i had stock HU with 4 channel amp, i had the really bad hissing noise.
after i changed the HU to aftermarket, it reuduced the issue significantly.

however i still had some noise when engine rev up, so i tried the following and it worked great.

1. Get to the back of HU and find the grounding wire
2. get some bigger wire splice into it, then ground to the closest grounding point.
3. then run another wire from the grounding point alway back to the grounding point where battery negative is connected.

Also do Big 3 Up grade. I found this in SoundDomain, and it is really easy and cheap, and works really good engine whine problem, especially with aftermarket HU with 4 channel amp.

I used 2ga wire, and ring terminals

1) Add extra wire from Battery negative to the nearest grounding point. (there is one right by the battery where factory wire is)

2. Ground Alternator (I used one of the bolts on engine block close to the alternator) to closest grounding point.

3. Connect Alternator positive to the battery Positive. Make sure you add a fuse (I used 120A, but if you can find what the factory alternator out put, get a fuse that is a little bigger than that)

this will make the current flow better, and make it less whining noise (some people says that it will increase the HP, but I don't think so, and i didn't feel it).

if you go to SoundDomain forum and search for big3, you will find more information about it.
i am not 100% sure why it works, but i tried it, and it worked great for my car. as far as i know, better flow of current reduce the feedback to the HU.

I have some pics on my homepage, so please take a look and let me know if you want more pictures. i will put up more on request.

oops.. i checked my page and found that i don't have any picture.....

i'll put it up some time tomorrow...

<EDIT>

I updated my page and added some pictures under Solara>works>Big3 Upgrade.

it cost me only like $30 total, and less than 30 min of work.
i think it really worth trying if you are having problem with hissing/whining noise on your car...

just some thoughts...

if you are using a line out convertor, most likely, the RCA's from the converter are in parallel with the power cable? seperating them as far as possible should take it all away. other thing could be the gain setting on the convetor may be too high and finding noise somewhere.
Alpine + Dynaudio = Sonic bliss.

Dont even get me started on steering wheel controls uugh...they sell a PAC-SWI adapter to get your steering wheel controls back. Maybe you'll have better results than I.
