alpine or pioneer

alrite so i took a trip to best buy the other day and found 2 units that were able to support cd, dvd play as well as navigation. One of the units was a double deck alpine unit and the other a single deck pioneer. The alpine unit was flush against the center console meanwhile the pioneer extended out a little.

The alpine unit was around $1000 and did not include navigation. I would have to purchase the navigation unit for an additional $500 and plug it up to the alpine unit. I gave it some thought and it would actually make sense because I would be to use the navigation unit elsewhere other than my car. I also did like the way the unit was flush, it looked alot nicer.

The pioneer unit was around $1800 and included navigation. The unit would not be flush against my center console and i'm not sure if it would interfere with any of the heating vents.

anyone know or have an alpine or pioneer unit? which would you pick and why?

I have the old Alpine D900 right now and will probably change out to the W200 in the upcoming week, I am thinking that it should be flush with the trim. but if ur using the oem silver double din kit, im not sureif that will be flush.

Ive only run alpine in my cars, and was never very impressed with pioneer stuff...
Alpine + Dynaudio = Sonic bliss.

Alpine sounds more worth it. Even though I'm a total hypocrite for saying this with Pioneer stuff installed in my car (1st the HU, the cheapest one at Pep Boys when my CD player went out, then the rear speakers blown and the "5-way" seduced me, then the front to match), I like Alpine a lot better.

yea i have checked out the eclipse only in pictures though. i can't find a place that has the eclipse i can see in person. i actually just met up with an old friend of mine today and he got a speeding ticket (95 in a 55) while on probation so he's in a lil trouble. besides the point, he's selling his celica because it gets him into too much trouble. he has a pioneer touch screen he's getting rid of, he says he's probably askin for about $300..no navigation but it is cheaper than buying it in the stores. bad thing is no warranty..i'll probably end up either getting the alpine and then in a few months getting the navigation or then possibly getting buying his pioneer from him. ill cross my fingers in hopes that it doesn't break on me

i have had nothing but great things from pioneer. in the solara i had pioneer premier headunit
pioneer speakers
pioneer premier tsw2000spl subs and they were awesome. had them for three years and not one problem.

the headunit was awesome too. i loved the sound quality but maybe i dont have the keenest hearing but i thought it was awesome.
