I was planning go buy a code scanner from autzone and return it, but i just found out you cannot return the scanner. They stop provide the service because they got lawsue from BBB who were trying to protect auto mechanic shops.

Does anyone interested in this groupbuy? This thing looks neat and in fair price ( that is another similar product that cost $190). It tells (i think it can actually speak to you) you everything about the engine movement. and it can serve as a scanner to search the code and shut the check engine light off. I would think its a great product for maintenance and tunning.

for example: i feel there are alot of time that i can feel something wierd on my car, but i dont know exactly what it is. So i can use the scanner to see if it is misfire, fuel issue, sensor malfunction or something else

I am hoping we can get some decent price...but here i just ask if we have interest. than i i will contact them to see what deal we can get.

It looks like it hooks up to a parallel or serial port on the computer, so laptop and desktop can be used.

I'm interested in this gb.

yes i think a laptop would be require because it plot all the information at real time while you driving. Therefore now they have build in speaking functions that tell you all the numbers and stuffs. I think it is a excellent product for street tunning.

A while ago a nology unit was brought up on this forum and at teamsc3.com which looked very promising. It was software and a reader which connected to the PDA and charted performance. There was supposed to be a group buy but nothing ever happened with it

You can get them really cheap if you have a pc. I paid like 20$ for the adapter and the software was free. :)

808Camry, I already ordered mine. It will be here next week I think. I actually ordered it for my RX. I'll use it on my Solara too once I get the hang of it.

Yes, it does what it says. The developer of that product coordinated with one of our members in the forum to make it work really well with RX-8s.

Can provides much faster data rate than OBDII. This is why cars after 2003 are adopting Can in place of OBDII. By 2008, all cars made will be using Can interface. My Solara uses OBDII, so I guess results would be different. Both Mazda 6 and RX-8 were made with the Can interface installed already.

Nutty, are you talking about Can interface or the OBDII? $20 huh? That's really cheap. I'd be kicking myself if I could find it at that price.

What adapter? The unit I bought is the CAN scan, which comes with the OBDII reader cable. The cable attaches to a box that takes car of the CAN interface and then the box connects to the PC via Serial cable.

So, if I'm going to use it for the Solara I could just connect the OBDII cable directly to the PC.
