Quick question regarding the kits. are the bulbs blue? If so, Mark, do you also carry the clear xenon bulbs? Let me know, thanks.

Are you sure? I've seen some of them with blue bulbs. For example, Kenny has blue bulbs on his kit...

Is there really THAT much of a difference between HID's and just high-powered bulbs? Why would I want to pay hundreds when I can just buy really good bulbs for a helluva lot less?

Hello to all,

I'm a new member. Just to throw in my two cents, I've had this HID kit for 3 years. This was the 5000k unit for the H4 D2R. The D2R is a Bi-Litronic "Reflection" lighting system (which is used on the generation one Solaras). This reference material can be found in the Bosch Automotive Handbook page 919 6th edition. The system that is used on the projector systems like the GEN 2 solara is a D2S which is also the type used on the newer BMW's.
Anyway, this kit had a weird flickering problem. This problem is due to the lack of voltage/poor elctrical grounding being present in the Solara electrical systems. This problem caused the system to flicker or black (by faulty ignition of the unit's ignitor module). This flickering is very damaging to the $150 HID bulds (or worse case out of circulation bulb (gen1,gen2, color 5000k, design, etc) depending on the manufacture). My kit eventually when out two years ago. i'm currently rolling with the CATZ bi-lighting HID kit. Both kits are effective in bad weather conditions.

Good luck to you all on your HID shopping,
-G
