Feeler: 2002 SE V6 5-Speed
After a good five years of faithful and enjoyable driving, I have decided that I am going to try selling my Solara. It's a painful decision, as I truly do love this car, but the simple truth is that I need something that can haul my motorcycle. Last time I checked, motorcycles don't fit in the Solara's trunk. As such, I am going to be making the jump over to a Tacoma X-Runner.
I'm in no rush to "get rid" of her, of course, and as such I'm just going to put a feeler out to see what sort of interest there is. If I get an offer I like, I'll jump on it; otherwise, it's still a perfectly reliable car and I don't need to sell it yet. A few items of note:
1) No, I have no interest in parting her out. Unless you're willing to buy more than $9,000 worth of parts, of course!
2) I'm going to be out of the state from June 10th to June 21st; I intend to do a full detailing, washing, waxing and get up to date pictures at that point. I've posted plenty of pictures of my car on these forums already (will update the post with links later today).
3) I'm willing to drive this car anywhere within reason, provided that the buyer is willing to secure my transportation back here to San Antonio, TX.
As for the Solara herself:
2002 Toyota Solara, SE V6, 5-Speed manual transmission
Rainforest Pearl (6S3) paint
TRD 7-piece body kit
80,000 miles on the odometer
K&N high-flow air filter
Approx. 35,000 miles on current tires (P205/60R16 Michelin MXV4 Plus tires, same as stock)
Cloth seats
Moonroof
Security system
Alpine Type R 6 3/4" component speakers up front, 6x9" coaxials in back
Alpine CDA-9853 receiver (I still have the stock JBL stereo system and amplifier, which I will gladly put back in the car)
Vehicle already wired for amplifier, with RCA inputs for front/rear/sub already ran to the back
A little bit of information about the car: I purchased this vehicle in August 2004. I am the second owner. It has (to my knowledge) never been smoked in. I run Royal Purple synthetic oil with a bit of Sea Foam and a Mobil 1 oil filter and have performed every oil change myself. I always run premium unleaded in it. The tires were replaced at 45,000 miles. The engine runs flawlessly, shifts smoothly, and has never had any issues whatsoever. This car has consistently been a pleasure to drive and I know that I could easily drive it for another 200,000 miles without worry. I've taken it on several long-distance trips (Texas to Florida and back, Texas to Colorado and back twice, and several trips around the state) and have never once had to fret. She'll run all day long, flawlessly. I've averaged just shy of 31mpg on the highway (driving casually, not getting on it too much) and between 23.5 and 27 mpg in the city depending on how much I get on the gas.
As far as cosmetics - she's had a couple dings, mostly from people not paying attention and opening their car door into her. The ride side of the car has several little "love bumps" from this (pictures to follow). There is normal wear and tear as far as the paint is concerned (scrapes, road debris, etc.) but it still looks great; you'd have to get within a couple feet to notice.
I would like to get $9,000 (EDIT: $7500) out of the car, but will entertain reasonable offers. As I said at the beginning of the post, I won't even be considering selling this until the end of June - and I'm not in any rush, so I can afford to wait for an offer I like. I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has, either here or via PM.
