WTF VVTi 5 Spd Camry?

WTF VVTi 5 Spd Camry?

Postby Johnny1MZ-FE » Wed Jun 09, 2004 9:34 pm

I havn't post here in a long time, but I found something on Ebay that caught my attention I wanted to share. As far as I know there was never a car like this built. They never offered the VVTi v6 in a 2000 Camry, and definitely never mated it to a 5 spd. I don't think the 3.0 vvti was mated to a 5spd in anything sold in the U.S. I called the guy about this car and he said he bought it new from a dealer in the U.S. His English was bad though, I'm not sure where he was from. When I asked him how much boost he was running he told me 9 lbs. That's also completely bogus. He told me his reserve was 19000 which is also outrageous. The car is very sharp though, and the VVti and supercharger look factory, but that's kind of expensive. The other thing is that Toyota never made a blower for the VVTi version, to my knowledge. If any of you can spread some light on what's up with this car, please do.

It looks good. I don't know if it's true. vvt-i w/5 spd manual and euro HID lights, that would be nice.

I spoke to the originaly owner a long time ago. The price is outrageously high. It's not a VVTi, and the bumer is from a european camry.

That's a pretty nice car, but I don't like those circus-lookin gauges and it looks like it needs to be lowered.

Engine Cover

Postby Johnny1MZ-FE » Thu Jun 10, 2004 6:14 am

Yeah, I wondered if that was just a cover. He said that was the new v6 in all the newer cars. I knew it wasn't available in 2000 though, not in a Camry anyway. So does anyone know if I was right about the 3.0 vvti never being offered with a manual? I do think the car is sharp, but y'all are right it could be dropped some.

XLE's never came in m/t. V6 Le's did (just like how SLE V6's on gen 1 solara never came in m/t). Thata a nice idea to replace the engine cover....The bumper was purchased from a dealership out of London, UK (i think this is the SECOND owner), cus the original owner did not have a whole kit and stuff before (unless he added it later..??). Its a nice looking camry..but when people start lying about stuff...you have to wonder what other things are they lying about...

seems like a dealer. hahah i once heard them say the new solara will have a supercharger and it would make 400hp.

yeah the XLE's never came in manual for the 00-01 (only the 97-99)
if you look close at the pics, it seems like he cut the front bumper to have the foglights put in. on the JDM ones the foglights are more infront, rather than wraping around the sides.(or i could be smoking that good stuff)

the only thing that can make me belive its an XLE is the moonroof. on the LE, you could get all of the above but not a moonroof, MAYBE A special order??? dunno.

but hes lying about a 9lb pulley and 300hp.
need wheels? www.memoryfab.com - ask for david

I think all gen 4's (gen 4 & 4.5) XLE were Automatic's and not M/t. Don't know if its true or not..but when we bought our XLEv6, we were told by the dealer (who are not always right) that all XLE's are dual power seats (our XLE came with dual power seats). As far as the fog's go...I have chatter with the ORIGINAL owner who imported teh bumper cover from a dealership outside london, UK (So thats not a JDM spec bumper...its a brit)....I don't remember the ORIGINAL owner having the wheels, kit etc.

I don't ever recall Toyota putting any cars out that were manual and the top model.
