Strut Mount / Strut Cap

Strut Mount / Strut Cap

Postby atclate » Mon May 03, 2010 1:48 pm

Does any of you know where I could get a good price for strut mount / strut cap for all 4 of my struts? I'm going to replace my struts soon, and I'm looking into replace the strut mounts while doing it.
Please let me know if you know of a source that I could get them cheap.
Thanks.

I've had OEM, KYB and MOOG. MOOG worked the best from my experience with TRD struts. They had the best bearing (most important part).

^^yes the bearing is exactly why i didn't cheap out on the front mounts and i bought tokico struts and mounts, i didnt get the tokico rear mounts because they were a two piece design, so i bought the kyb for the rear so it is a one piece design like oem mounts.

How much better is the MOOG? I need some info to justify the $40 difference... They're like almost a hundred bucks each...

Strut mount???

Postby english444 » Thu May 06, 2010 11:43 am

Hi Guys: Going to piggyback on this thread. My local mechanic is going bonkers. He can't figure out how to get the right rear strut mount off of my wife's 2000 Solara. Someone told him it's under the speakers but that doesn't make sense (I believe). Would appreciate fairly detailed instructions or at least where the hell to look.

thanks.[/b]

You'll need to take out the rear side panels, including the front seat belts and rear handles and hangers. And then take out the rear seats. And then loosen one side of the rear seat belts. And then take out the panel on top of the speakers. And then the black panel behind the rear seats. There you will see the bolts holding the rear strut mounts. It takes a looong time to do it. Be prepared that your local mechanic might charge you more for labor.
