By matrix part I assume you mean the black dots on the rear glass. Tint wont stick to the dots. Whoever installed your tint isnt the brightest. My window tint is money. 22% all around, dots blend into the darkness of the tint pretty seamlessly. My maxima driving friend however has double limo all around and got a black vinyl strip over his rear dots. Oh and dont use windex or anything with ammonia in it to clean your windows now!

KTGUMBO you're a jackass...

The person who installed my tint warned me about the matrix and how it might come out terrible. Hopefully when it all settles and dries, it will look better.

The installer told me that he did the best he could and when I got the ride back and checked it out. He did a fantastic job of tinting it over the matrix dotted area. 35% in the front windows and quarter and back windows with 20%.

Has nothing to do with the glass dude, get real.

If a tinter is going to tint the dot matrix, they should sand the dots or use some glue on the dots as the tint does not stick to the dots. Some tinters just avoid the matrix and rather not tint it.

LOW QUALITY GLASS??????

LMFAO, yea....ok. I don't think so. :drinking:

The installer sanded the martrix dots and applied a special glue to keep that area from bubbling and it looks great.

Theres four ways Ive heard of getting around the matrix from what Ive read. Its really thick on Solaras since our antennas are integrated in the windows

1) Use a strip of black vinyl on the inside over the matrix. Looks fine from the outside, but doesnt look too good from the inside

2) Sand it down. I think this one works well, I havent heard much from people who had thier matrix sanded

3) Drip down elmers glue and do some mass squeeging when installing it. Try to get it to stick to the dots as tightly as possible.

4) Use glue stick when its installed on the dots, mass squeeging. I heard this ones good since glue stick doesnt drip.

Problem with these is that all except the first one needs to be done on install. And im not sure how some tint guys would feel about you telling them to use gluestick.

I havent got tinted yet, so I dont know which of these would work the best. I just got this info from the research and asking around ive done.

what i did was.....

Postby boaclub923 » Sat Jun 19, 2004 4:49 am

hum, yeah.. because of matrix dot, my tint came out nasty too...
however, i cover it up by covering a huge sticker...
i think it's the cheapest and easiest way...
Image

what i relized is if u wanan do the same thing like i did, cover it up with BLACK sticker, dont' find any color try to match up ur car's color. it will make ur rear window looks smallr and make u feel your car is MORE FAT.. -_-;;
it just not really a really good idea nor good looking. i'm kinda regret to put white one on my car, but too lazy to take it off...

if picture doesn't show up, then go this web and go 3rd page,
you will see...

anyway.. good luck~ ^^

Did you put tint with any reflectivity? (Platinum, mirror tint, etc)

What percent tint is that? Looks pretty dark like 20% or so.
