Put HID? think about it....

Put HID? think about it....

04 Solara uses H11 light bulb as low beam, which creates a chaos to find the correct HID to replace it. Unfortunately, I can’t find any H11 HID, so I used 9006 HID base and modified it. H11 originally had been used as a fog light; therefore, it spread out light very wide and even, but I think it spread out too much that it can’t focus at the center of the road, so it’s kind of TOO DARK comparing with other headlights. Situation did not get improved by changing to HID… it still spread out too much and too even at the side of the road. Actually it did get improved a little bit, but I think I can get the same improvement by just changing light bulb… I put 8000k HID, maybe the situation could be better if I had putted 6000k or below. 8000k is too bluish and dark.

Overall, I think I just wasted a lot of money to change my headlight to HID…
So, I suggest everyone… THINK ABOUT IT B4 PUTTING HID…

Any hid system over 4500 is waste in my opinion. Yeah, rebacing it to 9006 was a smart idea..but you should have gone projectors. You don't need bixenons..so thats on yours is a money saver compared to us gen 1 guys!

I think the 04 is already freaking bright. I get flashed all the time by other drivers.

Halogen projectors and HID projectors...are two different things. I meant gone HID Projectors as well in addition to the 9006 rebase.

alan8888, dude! Ur info is CRAZY GOOD and USEFUL… I will never know anything like that… well, but that info didn’t help me much, cause I bought and installed HID already, but thx anyway~ ^^

today, I contact the person who installed HID for me, he gave me another HID light bulb (6000k). the situation did not get improved. So, we guessd we didn’t setup HID at the right position and off focus, especially it’s projector, light focus is even more important. We made some adjustment, and IT WORK!!! Wohaha~ gosh, it’s AMAZINGLY BRIGHT. I will post some pics when I get time~ haha~
now I encourage everyone go get HID~ ^^

Nice! i guess we have yet another happy camper! For long term prospects (and amazing output), i'd still advise u gen 2 guys to go HID projectors and to bend the shield on the projector to get the nice rainbow blue cutoff line!

Ha~ I’m back again. I’m here to post some pic of my 8000k HID

I think the color is too bluish… I don’t really like it, but it still cool; at least, it’s brighter than original light bulb.

Here is my sis’s car with Phillips 6000K, I love this color, I had it on my 1st car, but sadly, it cant’ be fit on solara. T.T
Image

this pic shows 6000k and 8000k’s different…

lastly, this has nothing to do with HID, I just change the license plate’s light bulb… it looks nice, so, just wanan show it to everyone~ ^^

Halogen Projectors does not equate to HID projectors. To get the bmer look accurately...get their projectors, any decent ballasts, ds2's and to get the NICE rainbow cutoff (blue line) just bend the inside shield...
