Ground Effects Kit.

Ground Effects Kit.

Postby philliptedja » Wed Apr 25, 2007 5:53 pm

Anyway, I tried selling my toyota GFX kit and it seemed that many are interested in the aftermarket one. So, I have contacted several manufacturers and they have agreed to manufacture the kit from my original GFX from Toyota. So, I would like to know:

1) How many of the guys here are interested in purchasing it. I would be an exact replica of the GFX kit.
2) What are your materials preferences.
3) What is the price range.

Based on the response. I will then decide if I would go ahead with the project.

Thank you,

Phillip :)

All I can say is that everybody on this forum with a gen 2 would be interested especially the ones without the sports kit...but without the numbers and a rough price range...nobody will step up and say they'll grab one for sure.

Depends on price for me... otherwise, we might as well pony-up for the overpriced Toyota OEM sport skirts. ;)

And good luck getting THIS crowd to seriously jump on a group buy!

The reason why I am asking for the price range is because I would like to know how good of a kit are you guys interested in. I am pretty sure that it will be LESS than $1500. HOPEFULLY LESS THAN $1000 (if enough people intersted). Because different materials will cost different and better craftsmanship will obviously be more expensive than mediacore one. I have contacted some companies including erebuni, since I heard that they manufacture lots of kits for different kinds of cars. The reason i'm approaching companies instead of contacting the factories directly is so that, the GE kit will not be manufactured from some unknown factory in China with "shady" quality control. Instead, they will be manufactured by factories that these companies deemed "acceptable". So, at least there is some kind of quality control. I am still waiting to hear from them. But, I would like to get some feedback before actually doing all the work and finding out that people aren't intersted at all.

Thanks and I hope many of you will voice out your opinion and participate in the polling. As selecting the material will be a very crucial decision and I would like people to let me know what they actually want.

Also, if people are interested could you please let me know. Since I need at least 20 people interested in it before I will continue on with the manufacturing. (The companies do have minimum order)

ps: If any of you know of any company that manufacture good body kit please pm me their information. It will be very helpfull. I am hoping that the kit would be available by latest, the end of this summer.

More input = faster decisions = kit will be available sooner for everyone

I'd be really interested. Urethane would be the best material for aftermarket. Pricing? I'm willing to do around $1,000. Depending on how the fitment and quality and who is the manufacturer

$1000 or less would bring a LOT more interest, I'll guarantee! ;) ...especially if they're NOT just fiberglass.

Make sure you get the money up front... a lot of people back out on group buys.
Good luck with this project, definitely a step in the right direction for the Gen2ers

Wow... I can't believe this is getting this far...

Now, a question, will this be a direct copy or will there be room for improvement? The shape is fine, but I think people will be wary about the installation process. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Gen 1/1.5 kit did not need holes to be cut in the bumper, whereas the Gen 2 kit does?

In other words, are there any plans to deviate from the original design to ease the installation process?

As an aside, can someone with the kit measure how much lower the car is with the kit than without (ground clearance)? I think I'd scrape everywhere I go, but just wanted to confirm.

You and me both brother! :o

I wouldn't mind the look, but I think I'd be replacing my fronts and sides about once a month if they're too much lower!
