TRD SPRINGS --> time for CO's or BETTER STRUTS?

Well, the TRD spring drop w/stock struts ('04 SE Sport V6) are feeling too "floaty/bouncy" in the front these days... (59k miles on car, Springs went on less than 10k miles ago.)

I don't know for sure if I am just getting "desensitized" to the setup or if the stock struts are just lagging in keeping up

I'm wondering if I might as well go to CO's or if higher performance STRUTS with the TRD springs will be pretty good comparatively... "bang-for-buck" being a MAJOR consideration...

Any thoughts?

even if you get A/F struts, its still gonna a smoother ride. w/ coilovers however you can get the stiff feeling and well they are just AWESOME!

Coilovers all the way...
almost there...what do you think?

Ask JIC Magic to do so...they will check the specs for our car...if they receive more demand for our car model...they'll probably take less time to do so.

Look the JIC Magic VIP C/O

#1 - there are no "higher performance" struts for our car than the OEM SE SPORT struts.

#2 COs win HANDS DOWN... trust me and Milt we have first hand experience with your exact setup vs. COs... definitely worth the extra $$$$$$$$$

**EDIT**

#3 - and since you asked... I think you are getting desensitized... but you cannot go wrong with the COs...

And when you get desensitzed to the feeling of one setting on the CO, you can change it LOL

CO's - no question about it.

I'd be riding on them myself right now if I had the extra $$ to go that route! Gonna be awhile though...

^^^ Thanks for the quick and STRONG feedback for the C/O's. That pretty much "seals" it for me.

I KNEW some of you had BOTH so your opinions are very important. I suspected this response... but wanted to see if ANY other opinions existed.

So, HOW MUCH did you guys pay... and are the TEIN the one's you'd recommend? (I've read about the JIC on the earlier gen's... but not available for ours, right?)

Also, any "issues" with the TEIN? (I know they make a good product, but also read of "some" trouble with them in here in the past... what should I look for.)

MILT,

How difficult to install C/O's compared to SPRING/STRUT arrangement?

Same
Trickier
Easier?

My Teins COs were about 1200.

I recommend the Teins since they are exactly what I was looking for - increased stiffness and control with only a little trade-off for ride quality. You don't feel every little bump in the road with the Teins -- and I have them set all the way stiff.

Yes, there are JIC available for our cars, but they are a little bit more than the Teins. I believe the JICs go for around $1600 to $1800.

As far as Issues with the Teins, I have not had any nor heard of any, but that is just me.

Installation of COs is easier than installing new struts/springs since the COs come in one neat assembly and there is no need to pull any parts apart. Although if you get the Teins then you need to use your OEM strut mounts, but that is pretty easy to take off and use. (Of course it is always easier to sit on the side lines and watch than it is to play the game... LOL!)

Hope that provided some more insight.

No JIC specificly designed for Gen 2 Solara.

My last post...
http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=31707&start=45

They have a product FLT-A1 Series (old version) similar to actual Tein SS C/O fitting Gen 1 Solara.

Their C/O products
http://www.jic-magic.com/SearchProducts.aspx?TopCatID=1&SubCatID=1&CatName=Coilovers

I'm trying to give some interest to the FLT-A2 VIP Luxury Vehicle Coilover
Would be nice to have this aftermarket option. :D

I saw some of ya mentioned pricing for the COs, but I gather you didn't mention TRD spring price since the post is not considering upgrading to TRD, but rather from-TRD. Still, what is the price difference from the TRD spring setup? COs are a complete setup complete with springs and shock absorbers, rather than just springs like the TRD set?
