New Optima battery (My Review)

New Optima battery (My Review)

Postby ClassySolaraGuy » Wed Mar 14, 2007 9:30 pm

Just got a new battery for the Lara. Kinda funny really. The stock toyota battery was fine but I was working on a project and left the damn key in the ignition twisted to "on" position & left it that way all night then found out in the morning it was almost drained. After getting my a$$ beat by my GF...lol, I thought might as well upgrade. 8) The battery is a Optima red top. Just for people that don't know or are considering one, It Rocks! Don't have to worry about acid or anything cause its completely sealed! Its about 35lbs compared to the stock one thats like 60lbs & it has a hell of a lot more power than the stock one. I'm in the process of making a battery holder for it. Just thought I share with you all. Here are some pics:

haha, this is the review??? Sealed, we already know that. Light, that's useful to know, thanks. Has a hell of a lot more power? How do you know that? It still gives out 14 volt like any other battery right? I mean... do you have a lot of amps, subwoofers, electronic components that must be powered? Hey, i'm not hear to hate, i just wanna say, when I read "Review!" I was ready to get some nice info...

But in any matter... congrats on your new purchase!

actually doesn't it weigh about the same and triple the price? i was gonna get one a while ago, glad i didn't i got a duralast yellow top. It does its job and does it some more for 75 bux cant beat that! Those are waaaay over rated. who really needs one? Ill b having my system thumping for 20 minutes and it turns on fine with the duralast. Anyone who bumps parked, jus to bumped parked for a long ass time deserves a dead battery. And anyways ive been in the car for 3 hours with the radio on( sub off ) and it turns on fine.

LoL...O well! That's my short review.

I didn't feel like writing a paragraph about the specs. I'm sure people here have used the: Image function. If so they know a sh!t load about it already.

The stock Toyota battery had like 580CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) the Optima has 720CCA's. There are battery's like Interstate that have more CCA's but I decided to shell out a little more for something different.

funboy102 wrote:I mean... do you have a lot of amps, subwoofers, electronic components that must be powered?

No. The red top isn't a deep cycle battery like the yellow top which would be better for those types of applications. Why buy another stock battery when you could upgrade to something better? :-?

awesome reply ClassySolaraGuy, haha

but one last question...

The stock Toyota battery had like 580CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) the Optima has 720CCA's.

How exactly does one notice this though? I guess that's what I was expecting in the review.

Its the red top. The camera angle does make it look orange. Here is a picture of the orange one tho I thought they were discontinued?

man, you're funny. So I guess the reason of getting one... 1. Can mount in any direction, will not ever spill due to the sealed desisn. 2. Works in a wider range of temperature. 3. IT LOOKS COOL.

right? haha, i was trying to ask, what's the extra 240CCA good for? Starting in colder weather I guess?

and hey, in your avatar... is that a Solara on ice?!? what's the 411 on that?

Its all in good humor. :D Yes the extra cca's are for better starts in the cold weather. The Lara in my avatar is one of the pace cars on the ice floor of an hockey setup arena.
