Looking for a wing style spoiler for 2007 Solara

Postby rags2ragtop » Fri Feb 09, 2007 2:03 pm

I know this may sound odd to the Solara purists but I would like to try a wing style spoiler on the Solara rather than the lip. Anyone hear of something like that?

I found one on the internet, but there aren't enough good pics of it to justify the price. http://www.customautotrim.com/spoilers/ ... ra/wg1725/

I'm not sure it will fit the look of the back end. Any thoughts?

Hmmmm...

This reminds me of a quote..."People are very open-minded about new things - as long as they're exactly like the old ones."

The RSX spoiler is pretty out there. This is not at all what I had in mind, but I want to meet the guy that did that. I bet he has had some good ideas.

I knew the purists would be offended by this, but I would still like the opportunity to see if there is a subtle wing style spoiler that might look good on this car. I put a spoiler on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring that was designed for the Mitsubishi Eclipse and it looked very classy, but it gave it a sporty look too.

Don't let the purists scare off the open minded folks out there.

well i dunno....i guess u can think it looks good
but from what ive seen the sebring has more of a flat trunk while the solara has a more curved trunk
if u think about it cars with more of a curved trunk have a lip spoiler while the more flatter trunked cars have a wing
im just saying....a wing doesn't seem to "flow" with the solara...just my .02

The pic on the site you linked to doesn't look good to me, but if you like it, buy it. Why not build yourself one out of styrofoam or cardboard and set it on the trunk to see how you like it in person...then if you lke the looks, you can buy it.

You can get styrofoam really cheap at an art store.

OMG!!! I CAN'T WAIT until us "goons" get a looksee of a piece of styrofoam laid across a Solara trunklid!!!

"rags2ragtop",

Just a small word of caution! You will get ALL MANNER of ridicule for things a little "different" and "new", very much to the point of your quote...

This reminds me of a quote..."People are very open-minded about new things - as long as they're exactly like the old ones."

...and you have a perfectly valid point...

HOWEVER,

I would strongly suggest "lurking about" in here for awhile, getting some input from others and looking at the various mods people have tried... (perhaps even taking a lesson from Jeff's "RICER-DAYS" stickerfest... ), so as to avoid the pitfalls of becoming "rags2raggedon"... against what COULD be your own better judgement given a little time.

Anyway, YOU should do what makes YOU happy... but as mentioned by some others... I'm not sure the wing in that link is quite "right" for these cars... then again, my opinion is like... well, YOU know THAT quote as well, I'm sure!

Good luck!
