Secondary O2 Sensor? Where?

Secondary O2 Sensor? Where?

Postby RDKamikaze » Wed Jan 24, 2007 7:23 pm

I need to know where the secondary O2 Sensor is. Is it the one on the header, or is that the primary? I have the I4 Solara if that helps with anything, thanks!

Your system had two converters and two O2 sensors. The first (primary) was located in the front manifold converter. Your JPP headers probably has the O2 bung welded to it.

The second (secondary) O2 sensor would be before the second converter.

The ECU "listens" to the front O2 sensor and adjusts the A/F ratio to keep the mixture correct. The ECU does not adjust anything due to readings from the second O2. This sensor is only used to verify that the front converter is functioning.

In your case, you need to speak to JPP or a local tuner shop about getting an O2 simulator. It should trick the ECU to believing the sensor is there and reading the correct voltage.

I hope this helps. I think this was your original question posed in a few threads you've started.

I already have an O2 simulator. I got it Here and the install instructions are involving the secondary o2 simulator. How do I find the wires on the ECM for the secondary O2 sensor, because on the diagrams I see OX1B and HT1B. I'm not sure which wires I need to work on, it's kind of confusing! Help would be great, thanks!

Ok everyone, I am pretty much done now! I only have one slight problem left: which wire communicates with the ECM? The blue wire (HT1B) or the brown wire (OX1B)? How can I tell other than clearing the code at AutoZone, puting it on one of the wires and test driving until the light comes on or stays off? That will be a huge pain because then I'll be cutting 2 wires if I'm wrong, and I'm really anal about that (darn my pet peeves!).

Which wire is the signal, brown or blue? Ahhh! I'm so confused, please help.

Ok, I soldered the sim onto the o2 sensor, but the light isn't blinking when I turn the car on. What did I do wrong, becuse everything is connected to the right wires? I'll just have to drive it around and see if the CEL light comes back on (reset battery).
