ok, so i know a guy in town that does body work on motorcycles, he has a shop right next to my car rental store and he is doing some work on my solara, (filing the holes and repainting the trunk after debadging). out of conversation the subject of body kits came up and he said that he has had experience fabricating them.... anyone interested in what the possibilites might be???

Well of course we'd have to see what the possibilities might be.

Here's a hint - everybody HATES the EVO kits out there - which are the only thing we've seen so far for the Gen 2s.

So... as long as it isn't Fugly, there's a good chance he could sell some kits! ;)

agreed, i dont like the evo either... i want something that still maintains the sharp look without going ricer on it... personally it is not the front end that bugs me.... its the a$$... too high...and the evo just drops it making it look like a Funny Car... not what i am looking for, especially if its gonna be lowered with trd springs, it just drops the car more in the front then in the rear :o ...so we will see, but i just wanna get some feed back on how many people might be intersted and what is the price range we are willing to pay

If you can produce something in raw kit form for around $1000. and it's keeping a clean lines look (maybe even some fender flares?) then I'd be seriously interested!

Personally, I don't think the OEM skirts look like they really blend in with the rest of the body style.

I've been working on some Photoshopped ideas I'd be willing to share as well if you're interested. ;)

^^Show'em!!!!!!! :P I'd love to see them. I do like some of the lines on the gen2, but I'd like to see it more aggresive!

i agree.. i would like it to look more agressive.. i dont even have the oms kit and the car just looks too rounded on the bottom.. as for the price, i think $1000 sounds reasonable... i would get it if i had money but im just a broke college guy

Heck... if he could copy the Toyota Gen2 kit he'd have sales. Throw in a little custom style on the front and back and he'd be set with orders from guys who have a kit already (maybe). (i.e. sell the whole kit, or just the fronts or just the back) But I'd by a straight copy for $1k.

Not sure about a TRD emblem big enough to fill up the oval on the trunk... might measure and look on eBay to see what might fit.

Anxious to see some design samples.

$1000 bolt on kit that's PAINTED? :o Wow!! :D

well that is what i am shooting for, 1000 should make it affordable enough that more of us can sign up for it.... might leave out side skirts, but the talk is to make it affordable, he suggested an add on lip that would replcace the stock se trim.... we will see, gotta sit down with the guy and get more info, if anyone has any design ideas feel free to email me them, email is: sjbudget@sbcglobal.net, i frequently check it.

basicly, he had good ideas for something that is directly bolt on, to fit right where the se trim would be, he said that would be the most affordable solution.... again we should sit down and look at all the possibilities, still just tossing ideas around

I'd only be interested in a full skirt package - not just front and rear trim.

Just FYI the OEM SE (sport) kits require cutting the front and rear bumpers for installation...

I'm not too dissappointed in the SE trim... I'd have to see something really "special" to risk the swap from my subtle, clean look... I'm interested in a "tail" job. Jeff's little wing trick might be worth considering... I'm wondering what could be done down low out back...
