Remote Start

Not sure if this goes here or not. But looking at putting remote start / ecurity on my '04. Was looking at the responder systems from both VBiper and Clifford. Any one have one of these. Used to have a Avantguard from Clifford, Still in the box. Installer told me that the thing is so complex that it would cost the same to install it as it would to buy a new one. So I have a Clifford avantguard 4 for sale if any of guys are interested, complete with power window module, omni shock senser, glass sensor, proximety sensor, tilt sensor, back up siren, and batter unit.

Aside from that was wondering about the following two alarms,

http://www.directed.com/security/viper/ ... ponder.asp

or

http://www.directed.com/coms.asp

They are pretty much the same thing (clifford and viper) but was just wondering if any of you guys have one how the range is and such?

I had the viper 791vx , the range was awesome it all depends where the antenna is placed I had mine on top of the front of the window shield and I could remote start from about a block away. Good Luck, installation cost me like 140-175 I think. I wouldnt do it myself that really is hard work working under the steering wheel.

i got a viper 791vx also... and its pretty awesome. but i think the range should be a bit futher... cause one of my classmates has a "cheapo" 2-way paging alarm also. and his has a lot more range. i paid $120.00 for it and about $60.00 to install it w/ remote start. overall its a good alarm systeml...

I'm thinking of the Viper as well after the other night's events. The Clifford Matrix also looks similar in options and price. Not sure which is the better of the 2 though...

Out of curiosity, and it might be considered as a stupid question, according to the dealer, installing an aftermarket alarm wouldn't void anything on the warranty. This is coming from the dealer though...can anyone else vouch for this?

My dealer told me as long as no wires are cut (Starter Wire included) no warrenty will be voided. But if they don't cut the starter wire then you get starter grind if it's running and you appen to try to start with the key.
