Has there been any noticeable loss of low end torque? The longer runners (yes, even with the U-turn) help generate this.

I'd have to see numbers - something... and what about that big "can" thing right out of the front header going into existing Y? Is that eliminated with this? and what is the effect?

I'm IN if there are gains to be had. DITTO on the headers. I'd be glad to "hog out" my header "pre-cats" myself to smooth the flow, but I'm sure it would be best to have a matched setup...

PLEASE DO THIS THING!

BTW, Dat, your pipe looks GREAT!

(I suspect you would want the CP-e MAFci tuneable and do some DYNO pulls to REALLY dial a re-routed/flowed exhaust well.... I'm game to be the one to try.... just hook me up with 'dem pipes!!!)

Please keep this in mind... coming from an exhaust expert here! ;)

Hey Phreak,

I know there is always the risk of low-end power loss on N/A applications... but I've also "experienced" this is sometimes "overcome" when OTHER mods are also present... i.e.: The BALANCED flow characteristics achieved when INTAKE, AIR/FUEL, GAIN MAP, MID and TAIL pipe changes, and other work are done... (Head/compression, especially...)

Can you confirm or further "inform" us of some of these dynamics at play? (WOW, that's a loaded question... heh heh... I know you have PIPE knowledge, so, as PXL says.... we're talkin' to an expert here! )

I know it may be heavily "case dependent", but if there are some strong principles at work that we could benefit from understanding, I'm sure I'm not the only one interested...

Of course, TURBO apps are different.... no need for back-pressure there!

I'd be in. But I'd want to talk to CP-e about it first to check the ramifications on the a/f map. Maybe we could get someone in MD to go for a re-tune/dyno so we'd have a map to share.

Yeah if it becomes too much of a problem Im going to dump the idea.... Because I do need 15 buyers at least.

Hey, that's alot of buyers to line up, but I'm DEFINITELY in for making the effort. I'd be up for some tuning cost to CP-e as well, if necessary to get the matched map.

C'mon guys... anyone who looks at the stock set-up HAS to be thinking there is lost power there.... possibly up to 10%.... I am SURE the flow restriction now is well over that figure... but NET increase of 10% is still a dramatic improvement. Just LOOK what the CP-e setup does to these 3MZ's!

Keep "pluggin'" this please, Dat!

Okay - I look at the exhaust on my V6 and can't figure out what the hell they're doing in there... what's with the big "cans" coming off the headers? Is that some kind of goofy cat or ???

And the weird curves in the OEM Y - Phreak says it's for low-end torque/back-pressure. Is that lost when straightening things out?

Normally, I would tend to think that simplifying that exhaust would a good thing - but then I'm also in CA and would have to change everything back to pass CARB, so I'm not sure now... maybe I'm just chicken to take the leap. :-?
