New item for us? I have absolutely no clue what benefits, if any, the calipers would bring, besides color...

PS Same seller is also listing rotors for "1999-2005" Solaras.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0041869244

They're in Anaheim, anyone care to drop by to confirm their fitment for the Gen 2's.

(As I understand it, rotors are mostly for looks, correct?)

PPS Normally, anything that says it's for 1999-2005 Solara would bring up a big red flag... but since they have something that is strictly for the Gen 2's, it makes the rotors a little more believable?

NHT are the guys that make Nightshadez, the lens spray tint.

I dont know if I trust them with a remade caliper.

...and no, rotors arent just for looks. Thier mainly to keep you from becoming one with the car in front of you.

That's VHT Nite Shades...

And the rotor comment... there's an improvement in braking distance only if you upgrade all of the braking components, no? The rotors by themselves, aren't gonna do much, right?

Random research...

"The superior glossy powder-coat finish used by NHT provides a number of lasting benefits over painted brake calipers:

* Brake calipers maintain their gloss and outstanding appearance up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
* The brake caliper's powder-coat finish will not fade, even under extreme weather conditions.
* Nothing sticks to the brake calipers: brake dust and road dirt can easily be wiped off.
* Brake calipers are sent through a thorough final cleansing before powder coating, assuring no impurities on or inside the calipers; the powder coating process is applied before final assembly, for a markedly better finish than post-assembly spray paint."

Probably just advertising spiel... but you get the drift...

Your right, my fault. I thought it was the same letters.

And for rotors, its probably nothing appreciable by changing just rotors unless your old rotors are out of maintenance. An exception is a higher diameter rotor, which would require relocation of the caliper.

I'd rather pay $20 to paint them myself than drop $300 on those.

Guys, I beg to differ on rotor impact.... conditionally, of course...

If you go to same diameter rotors that are SLOTTED and/or DRILLED, then you can benefit from reduced fade and improved bite. The biggest factor in affecting these are related to the dispersal of heat and gases that are generated between the pads and the rotors... this factor alone DOES make a difference in braking feel and absolute distance... the biggest improvement being in REPEATED brake use and REDUCED FADE when used aggressively...

Best improvement with such rotors would require quality pads combined with steel braided lines.... (less expansion resulting in much improved feel... etc... for the lines... and superior BITE and reduced fade for pads... etc...)

Anyway, I've change JUST rotors to slotted and/or drilled of same diameter with no other changes on OTHER vehicles, and the impact was dramatic...

(Of course, I'm not vouching for THESE PARTICULAR rotors... just making a general statement.)

Well, I read the rotor add carefully.... if they weren't SO cheap, (189), I'd JUMP all over them.... but for drilled/slotted rotors AND PADS all the way around?????

A little TOO CHEAP for my taste... CAN'T be as good as they SHOULD BE... and the "feedback" is showing an AWWWFUL lot of LOOOOONG shipping times...

I'll wait and pay more for rotors I am MORE confident in... although I DO think slotted AND drilled sets like these are a good improvement EVEN if it's all you do....

My thots....

I'd like to do mine with the Lunar Mist color, or maybe the new graphite color with white or silver toyota lettering. Or copper colored. But I guess it'd better be engine enamel not regular touchup type paint.

Those "pop" nicely!

I like the "anodized" center ring on those rims... very nice hi-lite...
