HELP NOW!!! Don't know where to put this!!! HID Install

Postby RDKamikaze » Mon Aug 21, 2006 4:30 pm

Ok, I'm installing my HID kit right now, but I am almost done with the exception of this one piece I don't know what it goes to. I've already tried to light my lights, but I guess they don't work without these 2 wires installed somewhere! I need help RIGHT NOW on where these things go and how to install them. If you know anything about HID kits please call me (send PM and ask for #) and I'll get a pic up very shortly on what these wires look like. They are small, rectangular, and flat. I'll get pics up soon, thanks everyone!

EDIT: I got it fixed, reffer to last post and lock, thanks to everyone who helped and CamrySE-soCALlara for phone assistance!

EDIT: Pic added.

What kinda kit are you installing? My McCullochs didn't have those... they were just plug-n-play.

Wish I could be of more help... but here's a BUMP for someone who might know!

Good Luck! :)

They go into the wire plug, Black goes to the lighter side and the white goes into the the darker one from your car.

Fixed the problem, they needed to be cut to fit in the OEM light harness. They rock now, and thank you to everyone who helped me!

Can you guys tell me if this is correct?
Does the fuse relay wire connects to the positive battery and the relay socket wire connects to a ground like underneath a screw somewhere? Or do they both go on the battery terminal, one postive, the other to the negative terminal?

Do I need to alter the tiny red and black wires from the harness in order for it to plug into the stock headlamp harness?Thank you.

Are these the correct steps:

1) remove the battery terminals (postive and negative)
2) plug the relay harness to the ballasts and bulbs
3) plug the tiny red/black wires to the stock headlight connector
4) plug in the relay to the relay socket
5) plug in the relay wire to negative battery terminal
6) plug in the fuse wire to the positive battery terminal

Thank you.

What should I do to make those two tiny black/red wires to fit into the stock headlamp connector? I need them to look exactly like the ones on the bulbs in order for them to fit. Since I won't be needing the ones from the bulb, should I just slice the wires and switch them over and just tape them up with electrical tape? Thank you.

Is there a good tool to cut down the metal on the tiny wires?

To me it looks generally correct. To cut the metal things pluging into the OEM wire harness, I used wires cutters and just kept bending and using pressure until they cut.

i am currently cutting them right now with tin snips, and sanding the edges down. almost ending up messing it up. now i gotta go do the second one. Once I'm done, and plug them in, is it okay to just put electrical tape to keep it protected.

as for the wires connecting to the battery, so both connects to the terminal, one positve and the other negative?

I was so ready to install the kit. Everything was prepared and hooked up. When I went to install the bulbs, they don't fit. They are too big and the prongs are not fitting into the slots, they are not proportion. I even tried taking the rubber and white plastic thing out and it would not work. Both bulbs are not fit correctly. They were poorly manufacturered. Now what I am going to do? Damn cheap kits.

Compare the HID bulb's 3 metal prongs that "screw" into the car with the OEM ones to see if they're the same size. One of the 3 prongs is slightly larger than the other two, and that means that you have to screw them in accordingly. Yes, you can just use eletrical tape for the above application, it's what I did. Good luck, and yes you attach them to the battery terminal.

I sanded the prongs down and they were still a tight fit. The bulbs only turned no more than 10 degrees, whereas oem bulbs turn a 45 degree. Is this normal for hids? I am not impressed with the light output at all, the stocks gave more light on the road. But the hids shoot further away and have a beautiful cutoff point.
