Sirius upgrade without fit kit?

Sirius upgrade without fit kit?

I'm considering the Siruis radio that lets me integrate with my JBL system, but there's a hardware 'fit kit' that is required that is priced around $80.

Does anyone know what's included with this fit kit, and whether a mechanically inclined individual could install the radio without it?

Thanks. I'm sure I could live without the hardware, but the wiring harness sounds like a pretty important part.

I can't believe that after spending $150 for a radio, I then have to spend another $80 just so I can plug it in.

I'll probably continue to roll with my XM radio in the compartment in the dash.

I'd bet that it's a conversion too because our HU is XM ready. Just my guess though.
