Anyone had this happen before? Where it cranks but does not start? Starting with the key is normal. Disconnected battery and then reconnected and tried, same situation.

I know, bring it back to the installer... but just seeing if there's an easy fix I can do before taking it in...

I believe Krook is the man who can help you troubleshoot it, he is the man at alarms and stuff like that.

You need to adjust the crank time on the alarm. Mine did that before. Once I adjusted it, it worked fine. G'luck

if the tach wire is not connected it will crank over but will not always start....the tach wire tells the remote start when the car has started and it will continue to turn it over until it starts...with the tach wire disconnected, it will try just for a few revolutions and then stop because the remote start thinks that the car started...been there done that!

For most responses... it has worked before, so the programming shouldn't be the problem.

As for the "it thinks it has started already"... it's not that either... it'll run through a series of cranks... three times total... so it KNOWS it's not started yet... just can't crank... I too think it has something to do with the transponder bypass, maybe a loose wire or something... anyone know where that might be located/what it may look like?

NEVERMIND! I am such a tard... when I went to put my dash back together last week... I forgot about the little coil of wire that went around the ignition key hole... that somehow ties into the bypass... so yeah... problem solved...

If your car has an immobilizer (e.g. fatter-than-usual key), you might've forgotten to get a bypass kit. I have a plain version of my key and it does that when I put it in but starts as usual with the coded key.

*Edit: Aotoyota said it. Usually I'd say never mind, but I just added a few details.

Just one last thing

I don't think you guys are reading everything. It WAS working, then it stopped... since everything was working, it meant that everything was installed correctly, i.e., the sensors, the immobilizer bypass, etc...
