Vinyl Wrapped Chrome Strip

Vinyl Wrapped Chrome Strip

Heya folks!

It's time for another cheap "mod"! (That makes three this week!)

So... if you're like me, you have an extreme aversion to chrome...

High on that anti-chrome list, is the chrome strip running across the front of the hood...

I didn't want to paint it (as SO many of my painting projects tend to go awry)... I figured vinyl would be something cheap and easy.

I searched on ebay and found this guy selling a 15"x10' roll for less than ten bucks, so I went ahead and got it from this seller... http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrp ... pQ5fdecals

This is the result...

Try to imagine it with michael's grills...

I thought it would require lots of patience, but that wasn't the case... didn't even need anything to warm up the vinyl... (but that may have helped with the edge)

I could have done a slightly better job on the edges, but as such, you have to be close to see some of the jaggedness... there are a few tiny bubbles in there, I'll try to smooth them out after a day or so...

PS I have a LOT of black vinyl left over... if anyone wants a piece (I used approximately 7.5"x3' piece... which is WAY too big) let me know, and you can have it for just shipping. I don't know how much that would be though... gotta ship it in a tube-type container.

Looks pretty nifty bro. I believe that the strip is easily removed as well (as I have seen them comming straight from the dealer without it recently). May wanna check that out as well...

Oh yeah! It is very easily removed... that's how I wrapped it in vinyl.

It's only held on by four or five nuts.

Way to go, thumbs up for something different on Gen 2 Solaras.... I never even really noticed that strip there on your cars, but I love what you did with it. Always nice to see people tryin something new. Good deal.
