This looks cool. I wonder if there is anything on the market for 2004-2005 v6 solaras.

I got cpe chip from them. I am quite happy with it. Want to improve HP beyond that.

I believe the idea has crossed their minds.

I'm sure they'd act quickly if we arranged a group buy of 30 sets.

Mike, (Downtothec) , how much do we need to bribe cp-e into getting this done?

I emailed Josh Adams at CP-E few days ago. Here's what he answered:

Hello,

Sir unfortunately we have had no response from the Gen 2 Solara guys. I cannot invest more money into are if we cannot turn the first product. We are trying our best and would love to make headers for this car.

Very Respectfully,

YEha guys, this dude is lookin to sell AT VERY LEAST 50 of those intakes per platform, more liek 100+, and I'm guessing between both Gen Solara we have bought maybe 15 of their intakes, and half or more of those at a discounted price.

Why on earth would they want to dump more money into something that will have no return for them?

We Gen 1 guys would love something too, but it's just not in the cards, we got lucky with their intake in the first place.

Yup.. it's sad because they were really jazzed about our car. They wanted headers, shift kit, and s/c when they did the intake but it looks like the community went for the cheaper deal. (I guess if it doesn't show, some of us don't care...) The Gen 1 guys are raving about the cp-e package they got. If they buy more, they'll get the attention. So we can't exactly bitch that noone's paying attention to us. Anyway, they'll develop to the market which right now is Mazda. That's their bread and butter.

header =?HP

Postby drace99 » Sat Jan 28, 2006 8:05 pm

I think we could get more iterest if someone could tell us how much horsepower we could get from a set of custom headers. I think 20-25 hp would definately get more buyers!!! Anybody else think so?

Yeah there are plenty of good stuff for the solara. One big issue is the ability for our cars to adapt to it without blowing something else up. And another issue is not allot of solara tuners. Makes it not as caring for many to buy one since theres no modivations of neighbors around them. Its true.

the other thought is that the 3.5 may become available for future Solara's. The Solara is not a high volume product for younger and majority of owners are older folks. Toyota should also change the name "Solara" to something like "SLR"-ooops, doesnt someone else call their car that? Do old people buy SLR's? How bout calling it a "Celica", only offer in SE pkg w/ htd leather added, TRD spings, RSB, a more open TRD exhaust (ever hear a v6 350Z scream?) and an 18" wheel option. Also, dont need vsc, 6disc JBL (sounds crappy anyways), elimnate the trip computer with an oil pressure reading, use a space saver spare (to save weight), add a carbon fibre hood - possibly with a small naca duct (to eliminate the too much front end mass and give that intake some freash air), a little more damping on the front end, use a short throw 6 speed from the Tacoma (if possible) and only offer in ONE package trim for v6 and auto crap box only available in 4cyl. This would be one killer Solara-Celica that would have the attention of performance buyers and certainly will get the tuners producing stuff. But this car would be so good on it's own. These and only these changes would be made to the current SEv6 Solara. It puzzles me why the Camry SE on is available in manual with a 4cyl. Toyota executives have that concept completely backards. I think the guy who decided that was responsible for 1998 Corolla wheel covers!

There are reasons why certain car only have certain options. Thast why we have forums and people to work together to make the best of it. And I have a 5 speed V6

dude,

From a manufacturing standpoint your ideas are pretty useless. Most of what you have written there are called aftermarket accessories.

Be nice. No ideas are useless.

Let's drop the speculation on the sucess or failure of aftermarket suppliers or Toyota's Solara. The topic on hand is about headers for the V-6.

HP gains?

Postby drace99 » Mon Jan 30, 2006 7:26 pm

Can we guess how much HP a set of headers would give us? Then maybe we can generate interest. After hearing about the cp-e intake and a definate 10 hp I was totally interested. The main point being how much HP we talkin about 10, 15, 20 or more. The more HP at the wheels, the more I am willing to pay.
