Nothing big...got that and a K&N Filter from AJ-USA.com for $48, really fast shipping too. As for performance gains, still the same I'd say. Also the only audible difference [assuming its not a placebo effect] I heard was in the 2-3k rpm range.

Waiting for my extended warranty to finish....then maybe i'll drop in the cp-e. :-?

It's not a very subtle difference, but it DOES sound nicer and the most you'd gain is probably a slightly faster pickup (probably a gain of only 1-2 horses). For me though, it was disappointing to find out that I installed it wrong the first time since (at night; didn't clear a peg) the engine sounded so throaty/powerful, then I installed it correctly and it only changed the sound a little bit from stock filter, but from time to time I do it on purpose to show off .

Here's what I'd do, though (don't know how good it is for the car; my friend did it with his Accord): Cut a hole in the area that goes before the filter to let more air in.

You mean on the greased black part? The only harm I see is possibly some dirt and particles getting into the car. I'll end up doing DocJohn's "flapper valve" mod as soon as I get some vacuum plugs...maybe remove the acoustic dampener....I dunno if that'd be smart though....but the sucker will wail! :D

Well, I meant it as the big empty space on the bottom portion before it hits the filter, not after where the car is vulnerable to dust.
