I just got the TRD performance air filter for my car! WOOHOO haha, I know it's not that big of a deal, but hey... I ordered it on wednesday, and it was here for me this morning, I paid $45 for it with my employee discount... It's my birthday present to myself (even though my birthday's not till sunday  ) I'm excited, I'm gonna go throw it in right now HAHA!

Good stuff, Happy birthday and congrats! :-) I love the TRD air filter, great stuff and if you have your car for a while it'll save you some $$ in the long run ;-)

That's what I figure, cuz I won't have to change it every 15K miles... When I pulled out the old air filter I couldn't believe how cheap it looked, it reminded me of a tampon for some reason... HAHA

question... how do the two compare... TRD vs. K&N?

I have a K&N and I noticed a difference.. and with the K&N you dont have to change it... you clean it and oil it.. is it the same with the TRD?

Very similar... mostly just a preference thing. I've had K&N for 7 years in my other cars, and TRD in my Solara for the past year... The TRD is VERY similar to the K&N in everything ranging from looks, to materials, to feel / weight... even the cleaning solutions are very similar... You can't really go wrong either way, so whatever's cheaper between the two is prolly the one to get (my TRD was free as a work-in with my car purchase).

WORD Prodigy... and as for a noticeable difference in performance? I'm still sticking to the placebo effect theory. However, I'm curious to know, does it complement the car's exhaust note at all?

Performance, as I stated in another thread is nill... I honestly couldn't speak for any even if there was an increase, however, because I had everything done to my car at once (it was all-at-once a different car than I had driven off the lot). I believe it does add to the exhaust growl a tad, but nothing too substantial. My main reasons for changing were simply that there is no doubt it allows the car to breath easier (and therefor it can't lower the performance, but MAY increase it through certain power bands where the car didn't breath efficiently prior), and that I will never have to replace it (I drive my cars into the ground, so this will save $$$ over time). I never even really took into consideration the change in exhaust note or the other stuff...
