ok... I have been looking at getting new tire for my 05 se v6... I am getting BBS RK rims in 18" so I was looking at getting new 18" tires.... I did a bit of research and found a tire I really want... small problem... went to get them ordered and the guy asked me what size and everything... said that there might be a problem with rubbing.. so we went out to my car and measured everything... so we get the right measurements and go figure... Toyo doesnt make the tire I want Proxes 4 inthe tire size i need... so my other option is to get the Michellin Pilots but havent dont much research on them.... can anyone help me with some background on this tire please.....

Pilot Sport aren't worth the money if you're just lowering the car/adding rims. It's for true sports cars =P You may want to research a few other brands/models (assuming you're open to that):

Fuzion ZR-i (Fuzion is made by Bridgestone)

Pirelli PZero Nero (anything better is a waste of cash)

Falken Ziex512 (Not the greatest tire, but definately damn good for the price)

www.1010tires.com - Research using reviews and stuff. It took me about 4 hours to get down to 3 choices (Pirelli PZero, Toyo Proxy, Fuzion ZR-i).
1GR-FE ftw!

I've been using Michelin Pilot Sports since I got the car (225/45W18)... Love 'em (worth every penny in my book for how I use the car).

Try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S...great tires. A little price but great tires. I had them on my Maxima...did much research on them and received positive opnions/comments on them. They were far better than Bridgestones for sure.

Ooh, great, I'd love to see some pics. I'm actually thinking about buying the same tire, but Discount Tire only has it for ~$185 each, and that's a little close to the Michelins Pilot Sport. Makes me wonder if it's worth to just pay the extra and get the Michelins. On the other hand, the Toyo has a treadwear of 300, significantly better than the Michelin's 220. Decisions, decisions ...

BOTTOM LINE: Michelins are probably the best tires you can put on a car in terms of overall performance. Maximum street performance might not be their best characteristic, but my family has always swapped the tires on our vehicles to Michelins. They typically ride quiet, long tread life, great weather traction...which leads to a good point....what kind of weather do you drive your car through? That will play a huge role in the tire dynamics you'll want. Michelin's are a great tire IMO, more expensive than most tires out there sure, but it might be worth it just to know you'll be completely satisfied with your purchase. We've never had ANY problems with Michelin tires. By the way, I myself am saving up for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's, Michelin's website actually shows you how THEY rank their own tires. Don't hesitate to continue researching until you're completely sure of your decision, no point in spending that kind of money only to be dissapointed. Good Luck.

Tires

Postby JMSinMaryland » Mon Oct 10, 2005 8:05 pm

I have had Pirelli P7000 SuperSports which they no longer make. Not a day of problems with them plus a 40k tire tread warranty which is unheard of in 18" wheels. I currently have Yokohama Avid H4s in 225/40 18 and they also come with a 60k tire tread warranty. Couldn't be happier. Jon.
