I was wondering if any of you felt it would be a good/bad idea to invest in a car bra to protect the front end? I am also considering getting a clear bra (made by 3M), but that is on the higher end of the cost spectrum.

Also, I've read the discussion concerning vertical doors, and IMO, I think they look wonderful on a Gen2 Solara. However, I am wondering what the drawbacks of installing vertical doors are? How reversible is this installation? How easy is it? If I was a person who has never done electrical work on a car before (which I have), how would I find instructions to extend the wire harness on each door? How would I roll the fenders?

Also, if you have purchased a lambo door kit, was the kit of high quality? Where did you get it from?

I am posting these questions because it is possible that there are people reading these threads (and many others) who are wondering the same exact questions. If you have the resources, please link to them below.

Thanks up front! 8)

A clear bra is always better than a regular bra. A regular bra has the hassle of repeatedly taking it on and off and hoping it doesn't scratch the paint. I kind of wish now that I had gotten a clear bra. Today's paint on almost all car models is very susceptible to rock and sand hits. I have a bunch of tiny hits on the front of my hood and bumper that have taken off paint. So if you hate applying touch-up paint in the manner to make it look good (using Mother's Paint chip repair kit or equivalent), just get a clear bra instead. Another alternative is repainting the bumper after several years of hits.

I have a clear bra and headlight/foglight protection, from 3M. Definetly better than a regular bra. I have a regular bra for my xA, and it stained the paint when I forgot to take it off when it rained. It also looks like it heated up some of the paint, almost looks like it burned. If you have the cash go with the clear bra. It was 500 installed.

this is not just limited to gen2's.
I have a front end mask (bra) when i'm not having my front valances. Contrary to popular belief, this does not leave scratches on your paint at all. Just as long as your remove the bra when washing your car and clean it regularly it will give you years of long lasting usefullness.
paintside: i clay bar is once a year and that is suffice for the underside of the bra
braside: white inside material i pressure wash it to get the dirt out 3-4 times a year and it stays white!

If i were to do this all over again, i would just go with clearbra, not cus of the hassle, but i know i can keep my trd valances and still protect my front end at the same time!

What is a clear mask? I am thinking that they spray a clear hard coating on the front to resist chips from road rash, but not sure.

No spraying. They tightly stretch 3M material or similar clear tough multilayer film on your car. Supposedly you can only see the seams when up close. It doesn't yellow and resists bugs, sand, and small rocks.

If you search for clear bra on the internet, I'm sure you would find more info.

I've had the 3M clear front end protection on my car for years. It looks good and works perfect!! You can get it here at a real good price.
