Black Pearl VVT-i Emblem?

Black Pearl VVT-i Emblem?

Postby cklinh » Tue Apr 12, 2005 2:44 pm

Just curious if anyone has ran across a VVT-i emblem in Black Pearl with the i in red? Or entirely in Black Pearl?

I'm loving the look of the emblem that some of you guys/gals have... but it'd look weird with my black pearl emblems... I'm almost tempted to paint the chrome parts myself... but then, it wouldn't match the toyota ones...

So, any information? ideas?

aw crap... there's probably some other threads I could have stuck this in... mods, please delete if you agree.

cklinh: I would be interested in a Black Pearl VVT-i emblem too. I agree it would be near impossible to paint a chrome one to match. Keep me posted if you find one.

You could get the paint to do it Sand the chrome off the plastic (comes off easy with 500. Then just paint it with the black perl paint. Any good auto paint supply place could mix up some. However you may be stuck with a 1/2 quart of paint.

Couldnt you just use model paint? Its designed for plastic and you wouldn't have to buy a quart.

Don't know how it would do in the elements though.

Model paint could work, but wouldn't hold up well. Best bet is to use auto paint (Dupli-color, etc. like they sell at Pep-Boys). A small spray can will run you about $5 and will yield the best results.

I've used model paint on my billet grill, Black Pearl, actually. (No, it doesn't match the emblems). Doesn't hold up well. I sanded lightly first, then five coats of the Black Pearl, then five coats of the Clear Coat, and it started chipping in two weeks...
