Dealer refuses to rotate tires due to AM wheels!

Dealer refuses to rotate tires due to AM wheels!

Postby DocJohn » Fri Mar 11, 2005 5:51 pm

Yesterday I took my Solara to the dealer for 7500 mile service to include tire rotation. When I returned to pick up the car I noticed the bill was less than I expected because they didn't rotate the tires. The reason I was given was because I have aftermarket wheels and the dealership did not want to incur any liability if they damaged them.

This is total BS as far as I'm concerned! They didn't have any problem doing a wheel alignment (at my cost) after I installed the AM wheels, but now they won't rotate the tires (WTF?).

Has anyone else with AM wheels had similiar problems with their dealership? I wonder if I had something like brake problems would they refuse to fix it because it involves removing the wheels?

This dealership (Oxmoor Toyota) has been miserable from start, but this latest incident tops it all. Time to find another dealership for service!

Sorry to hear that DocJohn, that dealership sounds like they're full of it. Good luck with locating another one.

What Mole said. Do 'em yourself that way you know they're torqued to the proper spec's not slammed on with an air wrench.

Thanks to all for your posts.
I usually like to do as much of my own work on my car as possible. I installed my AM wheels myself (also my mudguards, RSB & FSTB) just to make sure the job was done right (torqued 'em by hand, etc.). Its just that right now I'm short on time for this sort of thing. But I agree, if you want to make sure its done right; do it yourself!

In houston, a dealership did not want to touch my af wheels cus' of the same reasons. But they were prepared with a 'realease of liability' blank forms. From a dealership standpoint, i totally understand and agree w/ this...

edit: after i signed the release form, they were more than happy to touch my AF wheels!

let's look at it this way

u spend a bunch of money on getting the shiny rim u crave for a long time on ur hot ride, u sent ur car in for a check-up, and they rotated ur tire, after u drove home, u notice some dent/scratch/bend on whatever part of ur rim/tire, it might be the dealer's fault, but there's also a slight chance u hit something on the way home, all kinds of possibility.

then after u discovered that u will log on to ur favorite car forum, posting in all CAPS "MY BITCH DEALER DAMAGE MY $$$ WHEEL" and give urself a load of frustration.

people these day sue the nearest Macdonlad because they are fat, i can understand why a dealer refuse to rotate ur tire.
