New question, Old topic - XM???

The price for the XM was $319 when I got it in Sept, but the installation was extra, so that might not be too far off
When in doubt gas it out, brakes just slow you down.

Is there a reason you want to get the head unit version from Toyota??? Why not get aftermarket with portability. I did that with my Sirius, and am quite glad, PLUS, it's hella cheaper than having Toyota do it!

Someone on this forum (I think fotodad?) had the receiver inside the little compartment in front of the shifter. That's an idea if you don't want it showing all the time, but that may be a pain in the arse.

Why not just spend $265.00 for it and install it yourself? It is a fairly easy install and comes with instructions.

Hope this helps.

I have one of my buddies from work (toyota) picking me up the xm unit while he is back to the states for the holidays. The cost of the unit is $239.00 US and that is what the dealer pays. Just thought u may want to know what the cost is. As for install it is pretty basic. If your not comfortable with pulling the console out just get a stereo shop to do it, probably about 50 bucks would take care of it. I would think about an hours labor. He is coming back on the 28th and I will post how the install went.

I just installed the xm radio kit today. The whole procedure took about 1.5 hrs and could probably knock off a good chunk of time if I had to do it again. Putting the receiver and antenna in the trunk is a piece of cake. The hardest part is taking the clips out from the console, vents and around the stereo..... I'm sure I made a few funny faces waiting for the panels to pop but all went good. The worst part was a couple of the clips dropped down when I pulled the vent off but it was just a matter of grabbing a couple more from a stereo shop and all is back to original. The unit has been activated and all is working perfect. BTW for any fellow Canadians I did put this in a Canadian car. You are not supposed to be able to get satellite radio in Canada but give XM a US address and they are glad to take your money. If anyone has any questions about the install or activation feel free to ask.

that's where I have my Sirius one. If I can get my hands on a digicam, I'll get a picture up for you to see.
