Backup camera

Backup camera

Postby crimson blades » Sat Nov 13, 2004 8:31 pm

I just had the backup camera installed and it works very well. I used the Eclipse BEC-103. The camera has a wide field of view and also works pretty good at night. I mounted the camera above the license plate and its not too obvious. The camera is truly plug and play, nothing else is needed to install it. I also had the brownie removed off the trunk, that being the factory XM antenna, and replaced it with a much smaller aftermarket one. Now the car is looking much better.

Also, can you tell us where you got the camera and how much it costs?

I have some pics now, but no way of posting them, any help would be appreciated. I got the camera through the shop I had install it, called Tech Audiio in Grand Haven, MI. He charged me $239.95. He does very good work, stands behind everything and only charges $35/hr labor rate. Only charged me 2hrs labor to do the camera and change the antenna over.

Go to imagestation.com and set up a login. You can easily upload pics for free there then post a link here to your album or individual pictures.

Is that $239.95 the total price of camera and installation? Does the camera play back on the Toyota NAV screen? Which aftermarket XM antenna did you use and how much? Thanks in advance.

sorry about the delay, I was having problems getting imagestation to upload pics. Here's the link, I hope http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2287650093

The camera cost $239.95, the install was another $70. It plays on the Nav screen. I used a Terk micro XM antenna as a replacement, it was just one I had around the house.

Wow, the rear view on the Nav looks great and is a nice wide angle. It looks like the camera is through the plate not above it. Excellent install.

Cool, let me know just how much you can get it for. Are you in the car electronics business?

Looks great! I've been looking around for something like that. It's so hard to see outside the rear window in the convertibles.

Yep, the convertible rear view is even worse than the coupe. I'm seriously thinking of getting this if the price is right.
