Why is DHL even worried about legal issues? Ive never heard of a shipping company be so particular over such simple matters.

I responded with this to Mr.Grant

Me: These are for off road use only and are going on my non registered show car. Again these are intended for off road use only.

Mr. Grant: Your vendor filled out the DOT declaration as "conforming equipment". This conflicts with your statement and the information I have provided in my earlier email.

Well there you go, VVME screwed up the paperwork (or most likely tried to pull a fast one and got caught). Your gonna have to take it up with them and have a new shipment sent. If you used paypal, you can file a claim to get you money back, but if you plan on re-ordering, have a local friend do it and ship it to them and see what's up.

I was going to order two kits from them (5k headlights and 3k fogs) but due to DHL issues that you are having - i will wait

UPDATE:

I get a phone call from DHL today stating they need my ss#, a power of attorney and to fill out a DOT declaration form. wtf? right? So this guy fax's me over 8 pages of paperwork stating they need a copy of my ss card and or a copy of my 1040 tax form to proof that it's me. Another paper a DOT form http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/imp ... 9short.pdf click that link and thats the form. I actually did a bit of a search and found this link. I do not have a clue on how to fill it out. And lastly a power of attorney form to fill out wtf?? And of course I have to fill out these papers and fax back over to LAX DHL customs to see if they can clearance these HID's to me.

All this for some HID's. This seems too much right? Help anyone???

Dude that is alot of private info to be sending to who knows where and why the fux would you need to sign a power of attourney.why would they ask for the right to make decisions for you it sounds fishy. I f i was in your position i would demand a refund from the company due to you not recieving your stuff. ive never heard of this good luck man

This is for your new kit or your old one? I'd just say screw it, tell them to send it back, pull a charge back on the CC. And just have it shipped to a friends house next time.

Dont ever give out your ssn to a shipping company. Tell them to send it back and deal with the company...

NEVER GIVE OUT THAT INFORMATION.

I may be paranoid but it seems like an invation of privacy at best. At worse you could get whacked by the Patriot Act.

As I eluded to about "hearing" about bringing things illegally into the country there is more to the story. Call me Paul Harvey LOL.

The government can and will crawl all over your accounts and anyone you have spent money with to see if it is supporting terrorists. They find a country that launders money then demand all financial records from a vendor, paypal, credit cards, shipping companies and customs. If you get red flagged the men in black come a knockin and you don't want that. Best of all is when they ask you to provide them with financial information to self incriminate yourself. Remember Ronny Raygun....."I don't recall" is a whole lot better then demanding to take the 5th or incriminating yourself.

Refuse this shippment, contact your supplier and have them use a different carrier (not UPS) and change the declaration document descriptions.

^^^ Yeah they did but I actually bought another set. I bought it from the same vendor but I bought this new second set off the ebay store. First time i bought directly off the website and they screwed up. So im going to dispute the c/c charge from the first order.

****UPDATE****
Good news! My package was delivered this morning at 10:58 am. Finally I got my damn HID's!! Going to install them later this evening when I get home from work.

The other package the first one I ordered. DHL called me this morning and told me that there going to have to ship it back because they are illegal (yada yada). I was like yeah ok thats fine I understand. I didn't care I got my new package anyway I just gotta attempt to get my money back from the first one if it's difficult I will just dispute it w/ my c/c company no problem.
