I actually bought a set of these for $30 bux at my local autozone. Still brand new if anyone is interested. I just never installed them because they were flexible rubber-like material which would eventually turn yellow from the sun. They do light up amber as Jeff pointed out.
It is an inexpensive alternative, which I'm always searching for, but to get the effect that I wanted, I had to cut my mirrors and go for the clear lense leds.

I have a question. Are the yellow turn signals actually amber LEDs in an amber housing or are they only amber because of the housing? I mean, trying to get the clear lense with yellow LEDs will be pointless this way, if the LEDs aren't actually amber. Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
BTW, looks like the surgery will be at the end of March/begining of April, unless my Xrays show that it can't be done. In any case I will let you know on March 8th.
^^^There are some that are amber lense w/ amber leds. Then there are the ones that are clear lense w/ white leds.
The only issue with wanting the clear lense w/ amber leds is making sure that the parts are interchangeable. I'm just not having any luck on locating these and I'd have to buy a set to test and they're too expensive for me to do this.
I'll let you know once I'm able to see if the clear lense will fit on the amber leds. I too wanted to go this route for a long time, but have not been able to find the time to do so.
I'll keep you guys posted on this.

p.s. the thought of surgery just makes me ill...
