Please post some info -

I'm talking to a guy at an audio store here - what i'm trying to do is basically hook up an aux in w/ rca females - where i can plug in an ipod/xmradio or any of the above -

he called some company on the west coast - pacific something or other - dunno if its the same one you got your aux-pod from

basically what he said is - and it works on the new solaras - its a T-junction device, its like $119 or so, and that the radio will display AUX when in use, and the volume control will work.

Is this basically what you did? or something else?

Thanks

OK, from what I understand, you need an Aux-Box (or equivalent, I got an Aux-Pod, which is the same thing, but it allows control of the iPod). Look here:

http://www.pac-audio.com/

It's basically what you described...except it plugs into where a CD Changer would (at least on the back of my NAV). When it is in use, it says "CD Changer" on the screen. I did have to get a part from Toyota though, because the plug/harness is a different shape. (I think I wrote it somewhere in the thread).

Also, check this page out:

http://store.yahoo.com/logjam/auxtoy.html

Looks like it has multiple solutions to what you're looking for. I think they should work when you get the Toyota part. This place also sells the same thing, except they call it the "TOY03-F/MM Toyota "Y" Harness". I have confirmation that they are indeed the same parts... except the Toyota dealership only charged me $15.

cool - i dont have the navi radio - i have the 6 cd changer setup, so it might be slightly different - but, as long as i know that there IS a solution to this whole problem, I'm sure i'll be able to get what I want out of it.

I'm thinking of getting the XM commander, and installing it/mounting it between the two buttons for the seatwarmers, above the storage bin.

You know that Toyota part I was talking about? Well, it's a Y-adapter... and since I didn't have anything plugged into the port already, there is an extra thing dangling about... you might be able to use both... here's a pic of a similar item... (as in not made by Toyota)

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/pietoy03fmm.html

the big end goes in my Aux-Pod, the two smaller ends are teh same thing, one Male one Female... one end goes in the back of my headunit...the other is for... the use of two things at once? if someone in the Bay Area wants to let me try their CD Changer, I'd be more than willing to plug it in :)

The Dension ICELINK SUCKS!

Postby robdaemon » Tue Aug 24, 2004 11:29 am

I have one of these setups in my car.

It's very, very flaky.

Half the time the iPod pauses when it shouldn't, skips multiple tracks, doesn't power off, or it will just *disappear* from the stereo (meaning, the receiver doesn't think I have a changer anymore).

It does not display track / title info on the receiver, and it's volume output is much, much lower than the internal CD player or even FM radio. I end up turning my radio up to 40-50 to get decent sound.

I'm going to be replacing this setup with the Alpine stuff as soon as the dashkit comes out (is it out yet?)

Just for the record, I don't have the problems listed below (been driving for about 4-5 hrs since having it installed).

The only problem I have is that the iPod starts playing when I start the car even though it's not the input selected (ie not CD Changer). That I can live with, since it's just a quick push of a button to get it to turn off.

UPDATE: NEW FIRMWARE

The firmware number (it's written on the black box) for the older AuxPod was: FW 04.27.22-M64

The new one is supposed to be: FW VER 04.09.05

Quick trial... my little problem with the iPod turning on even when the "CD Changer" wasn't selected is gone.

Also, I can now fast forward through a song (NOT skip to next song) on the Navigation Touchscreen (can't do it on the steering wheel, no matter what). The included cable, although a lot longer, is a lot "cruddier". Thicker, and the heads are bigger. (I had to drill a bigger hole in my compartment to fit that sucker through). Whereas the prior cable (from Dension, slapped with a PAC sticker) looked like it could be made by Apple, you KNOW this cable is after-market.

Well, I just placed my order for my new 2004 Solara Convertible - which I might get in 3-6 months :(

but, when I do get it, this is definately going to be something of interest to me, tying in an Ipod, or some other device of that sort

I also have a question on XM installation, and, if theres compatability for sirius, but i'll check another thread for that first.

i think in some forum or something, that if you hook up ICE link, it'll take the place of XM

not sure, but check it out

i dno, i ended up getting an iPod Neo, it works pretty well, but what is supposed to display the elapsed time just goes from 1'00 to 2'00, and then goes back to 1'00, and repeats...forever.

i can use steering wheel controls, but none, except seek, on the dash.

OTHER THAN THAT, it's pretty cool..
