Fswb, rswb, or stb first?

I installed the bar last night; the difference is phenomenal. I used the stiffest setting, and it will stay there as the whole car is held flatter through the turns. The only thing I don't like is the vague feeling I am left with up front, so I feel I must next add the strut tower brace to tighten it up a bit. All in all, though, I must say I am very, very happy with this purchase!

Congratulations man. I'm considering the front sway bar myself as my next mod, but that'll have to wait till after I get my brakes re-done. If you do end up getting the strut tower brace, let me know how it feels.

RSB makes a big diff, but in the Convertible, the FSTB is equally as important and made as much diff as the RSB in my case!

I've heard mention of a "front Sway Bar" for the Gen 2 - but that's interesting link you found! I'd take a chance on getting one, but damn! $40 for UPS Ground shipping? :o
*Edit: DUH! It's coming from Australia! :D - some of the best built off-road stuff comes from down under, so this may be built like a tank too! ;)

Maybe I'll do a little more research on it first - I have a hard time figuring out how this will work on the Solara... as when I look under there, I just don't see where there's room for it... :-?

I forgot that it was from Australia..:drinking:.That price would be mostly due to the package size rather (esp if its the size box that the RSB came in) than weight because it would have to come through the air system. Our lowest class of air service is called 3 day select. Once it lands in the states, it would be trucked till it reaches destination.

WOW! I'm INTERESTED in the front sway bar! I put a front sway bar from Suspension Techniques on my '84 Supra... along with a TOKIKO full strut/shock kit with drop springs, including the REAR sway bar... and the damn thing rode and tracked like a GO-KART! (I wouldn't want THAT much STIFFNESS/HARSHNESS on my Solara, though... but the RIGIDITY would be welcome...)

So, about 2 Ben Franklin's for "springing" the front end, eh...? Might be worth a try...

BTW, FRONT sway bars are MUCH MORE COMPLICATED to install on many cars. You have to "WEAVE" them into existing chassis/suspension components, potentially doing some DISASSEMBLY to INSTALL the new bar. It COULD COST you quite a bit more than the PART ITSELF! (Just be aware!)

Regarding the Strut Tower Bar vs the SWAY BAR.... I would say the Strut Tower Bar is more like a "rigid member" to "lock-in" the top of the engine bay and reduce FLEX... in the chassis, particularly related to TORQUE STEER, etc... whereas the SWAY BAR is a "SPRING", generating torsional "compensation" to distribute "twist" through the chassis and maintain better TRANSFER of forces that help PLANT your rubber more evenly under varied conditions while cornering, etc...

The FRONT STRUT TOWER BAR DOES make a difference... and I wouldn't be without one, bang for buck... (It will definitely help keep the front end of the car from flexing nearly as much... and even helps with torque steer on launch.)

I was looking at the front sway bar install when I was under the car; it is definately more time consuming than the rear bar. You would have to do this on a lift because, as crisp said, it needs to be woven through the chassis, and would require a bit of room for movement, as well as removing the front wheels. I have the perfect place to do this, however, so I will be doing it soon! The strut bar will be within the next two weeks, so it will be a few more until I order the sway bar... possibly around Easter or a little later.

Try to take PICTURES and create a basic TUTORIAL for the front sway bar install! I wanna know how tricky it ends up being... I think more than it looks? :-?

Recieved the Front Strut Tower Bar today, so I'll be installing it tomorrow night... can't wait!
I have also been in contact with Zach at Global Performance in reference to the front sway bar. In regards to the adjustable one, he said, "This sway bar is built to order, and we can have it here in about 3 weeks from the day you place your order. In other words, if you ordered today, you could expect to receive your bar during the week beginning April 1st." The non adjustable unit is in-stock, and goes for about $35 less. I need to decide which one I want, but I think I already know which one it will be... even though I will probably not need the adjustability!
