The tunable cp-e is $99 extra. That comes with software for the laptop to hook up to the chip and program a a/f map. For s/c, you'd just need the right map and a MAF sensor that can handle the boost. Not sure what our stock MAF can take. But on the plus side, s/c sucks in the air faster but the pipe is 70% wider. So maybe it's a wash.

if you don't understand wrote:MAF 101
Your MAF has an electrically charge wire with air passing over it. Faster air flow make the wire hotter, changing the resistance, thus changing the voltage output to the ECU.
The limiting factor is the velocity of air passing the MAF. Too fast and you can burn out the wire or create turbulence in the air making it not read correctly. Got all that?

See the Intake 101 link in Sebastian's first post for why the air would be slower with the bigger pipe.

Im interested in getting the CP-e intake, but Santa Fe and New Mexico as a whole dont have any very good performance shops. Which intake should i get the tunable or nontunable?

Well first, you can get the intake either directly from CP-e, or discounted a little through an Internet vendor, (e.g., theRPMstore.com used to sell it.)

The install you can do yourself.

As far as tunable vs non-tunable - the real reason to get tunable is if you're going to add a S/C or something else that would alter the ideal fuel map, and since you have a Gen 2 and since there are no performance shops around - that's unlikely. Otherwise, go for the non-tunable.

If you decide to forego the $99 extra for the tunable version, you can still go back later and upgrade your customizer to a tunable one for $149.

nice ride bro, we barely have any aftermarket support for our car so if i were u i'd get the non tunable unless u can get some to make a custom turbo or supercharger

I know I had mine on a gen 1, not a gen 2, but I never really appreciated it until I took it off to sell the car, now when I drive it it's about 1/2 as fun as it used to be, no exaggeration. Take that for what it's worth, but the solara with the intake was about as fun as the supra, without it I feel like I'm just dirivng an ordinary car again.

If people start to be serious about wanting some perf mods....and buy them nothing is impossible. At least headers and cat-back !!!!

Hi,

I would like to know who vote for the "I'm afraid to mess up with electronics connections" option ?? I got the same feelings...first new car I bought...first time I allow myself to change something on one of my car. Then I saw the 3M connector that just go bite the ECU wires. The inside of the connector is a little "U" shaped metal blade that do the contact. It's pretty tight when it's snapped. Then you just take the CP-e module, read the instruction and plug the good colored wire in this little aligator plug. So easy, I became more confident on this part.

If I can help those who are afraid to mess up with electronics connections...I can answer your question like down2thec, spawdler as well.
