Underglow

Postby [SMAN] » Tue Apr 21, 2009 3:49 pm

Put black tape along one side of them (cover about 50%) and you won't see the tubes and they will only light under the car. I used to have them on my camry way back in 2001. Black car, green underglow, need i say more. But after the cops kept pulling me over, i put the tape around to get the block of light so that i would comply with the lighting laws.

Did the camry have the plastic piece under the engine on the bottom of the car?

I had it on my car for about 6 months... its troublesome in the sense that i ripped the front bar off twice... and my cars not even lowered (yet). Also, the glass cracks easy from stress (if you get neons) and they are supposed to be waterproof but we all know that doesn't last at all. Over all, it looked cool but i ripped them out due to too many issues. Wasn't worth the effort put into it. If you can do LED's and somehow hide them in the undercarriage, i would say that's a MUCH better idea but as far as neon goes.... its a pain the ass

They should come with rings with a hole in them to screw into the bottom of the car.

Well, they came with these sort of shock absorbing plastic mounts that you can screw anywhere and clamp onto the tube, OR the ends of the neon tubes had mounting holes. I just put a screw through the the mounting hole and right into the plastic undercarriage cover thingie.
As for the sides, like i said the ends of the underglow sticks had mounting holes, and also if you look on the underside of your car, there is a lip or "seam" if you will hanging straight down (its the piece of metal that the jacking point notches are cut into) the mounting holes on the end caps fit right over this lip and i just drilled holes through the seam/lip thing like hanging a picture on the wall sort of causing the "top" of the neon tubes to be pointing inwards towards the center of the car... tell me if you need pics to clarify... ill go take some if you want

my ex coworker drives a new yellow mustang and he has orange underglow. I find the only pro to that thing was when we're driving on the freeway, he turns them off when cops are around since he has a radar. and that signals me to slow down to speed limit.
