lol random, but would dental floss work as an alternative to fishing line? I mean I only need less than a foot of string.. and to buy a whole spool of fishing line seems like a waste.

According to many old threads, dental floss was the go to for emblem removal. I actually think it would work better then fishing line because it is thinner and doesn't stretch.

Soaking chrome parts in Formula 409 overnight is a great way to strip the chrome off. That should make it easier to paint.

Hello.

I have a 2008 SLEv6 coupe and I am considering removing the emblems and keeping them off permanenty.

I am concerned if there is going to be any holes in the trunk. If so, then I'm not going to do it. But if there are no holes, then I'm okay with removing them.

I jiggled each of the "S O L A R A" letters on the back, and found that they are very movable, which suggests to me that there is NO pin in each letter going into the trunk. The "SLE" is the same. But the "TOYOTA" emblem seems quite firm.

Has anyone had any experience in doing this? I'd hate to take one off and see a hole going into my trunk !

wsup solaraman.. the toyota emblem and the word solara have two holes in the back of each. in order to solve that, you'd gotta get them filled. but the word TOYOTA, SLE, and V6 are all just stuck on there, so you can take those right off like i did.

actually he has a gen 2.5 so ALL the emblems are removable with no holes EXCEPT the toyota symbol (cowboy hat)
thats if i remember correctly because they changed from cursive to block letters for the word solara
