If you disconnect brake lines...you have to know how to bleed your braking lines...

if not you just to unbolt and bolt your brakes rotors and pads together.
One hint...be sure to check how the pads are mounted in the caliper. That way you'll not make a stupid mistake like I did...one pad was up side down...yeah I succefully installed it the wrong way and it made a banana shaped pad after some very few slow stops. Be wiser then me and check it correcly (the worst is I knew I do it right....and I just went to fast without double-checking it) Avoid this frustrating moments !

Bottom line it is pretty simple...you can keep the caliper together to change the pads if you dont think to detach it from the brake line. I did to make a good painting job on my calipers.

hmm, well one, i am going with the r1 concepts, so when they arrive i will go get some new brake pads(any suggesstions on the break pads) and two, when am about to install i will just pm you for a quick tutorial on how to swap in and swap out rotors and brake pads

now for the wait, my next mod is going to be tires but after this purchase i am just gonna lay low on buying parts till june, but i do still have my apexi speed rev meter.

i wanna install that, and i know it is pointless to have but i have tried to sell the thing but i have no buyers, so i am going to install it just to get some numbers on power and all its other features.

thanks for the help sebas, any help on installing the apexi rsm, i just went and looked at my ecu and i am gonna need help if i wanna do it myself, i want to do it myself but it might be better for a tuner shop mechanic to do it, problem is, they prolly will not let me in while they install so i can learn

If I was you I would by the ones they are selling on the same website.

http://stores.channeladvisor.com/brakes/Items/Item.aspx?SKU=fad3926%20-%20107.09061&caSKU=fad3926%20-%20107.09061&caTitle=TOYOTA%20SOLARA%2004-06%20Front%20Axxis%20Deluxe%20Organic%20Brake%20Pads

I had those before I scrap them with my installation mistake. I bought some Akebono brake pads to replace them. Make sure you have a oblical line in your pads...if not it will hear every slot your rotor have when you will apply the brake. The one they sell on the website are ok for that purpose.

Wow, heck of a sale going at R1! You'll save even more money by buying the combo package (disk and pads) together.

Once you've collected the parts you'll find a step by step tutorial here: http://gadgetjq.com/solara/brake_rotors.htm

Cheers

Did you bought the rotors already....if so why didn't you chose the rotors + pads packages ???

Akebono ProAct brakes pads are the one I bought after I made my mistake...if you can read what I've written ealier. But the first ones I got were from the R1concept packages...that you should bought.

Sebas, did you do the "Best Offer" on ebay or did you buy from their webstore?

I just put in a "Best Offer" and am wondering if they'd accept it (I'll update if they do or don't).

Just for the record, my best offer was $350 something and change, came out to be exactly $400 including tax and shipping (this is for the premium rotors with pads combo).

I bought mine directly on their website.

http://www.r1concepts.com/performance.html

I bought my lines directly on StopTech website.

BTW anwagbo3000, you can forget about the oblical splitted pads...watching the pics back, I can say it will be ok even w/o the oblical thing.

FYI. My offer was accepted. It comes out to $400 even in this auction.

Someone may want to try going lower than that? :)

kool, i will go on the site later and pick up some brake pads, i just thought that i could go pick up a pair from autozone, but i will go back to the site and purchase some brake pads for both the front and rear rotors

the break pads will probably get here faster than the rotors anyway because they have to zinc coat the rotors before they ship them which is three to five days, i am guessing that they will ship the brake pads asap

When you order the pads let them know you've also ordered the rotors separately (provide the order number) and you'd like the shipping combined if possible. It might save you all or most of the shipping cost for sending the pads separately.

This is kinda related but kinda not...

I remember there being talks about the first batch of 2004 Gen 2's having different sized brake pads, and then production changed.

Anyone know for sure whether that is the case? And would R1 Concepts know about that if I let them know when my car was built? (December 2003, I believe, which may be one of the earlier ones).

EDIT: It was this thread, but part of the thread is missing...
