Anyone running 235/35/19 Tires?

Postby PXLpainter » Thu Mar 13, 2008 11:07 pm

For a FWD car, it's best for performance to have equal front/rear rim/tire sizes. RWD can always accommodate bigger/wider tires on the rear. Anything else is just for looks on a FWD.

It says that for extreme performance, pick equal tire and rime size... Still, I guess it will be ok. Good reading!

8.5" rims with 225mm tire = very close to be even

8.5" = 216mm

It makes 4.5mm on both side of the wheel

The tire will be fatter of 1/56" or 0.01785" on both side

yeah i was running those numbers, but the question is with such a low profile, is 235 mm going to be too fat for an 8" rim?

the reference says to get under +40mm tire width - rim width

235mm - 203mm (8") = 32mm or 16mm each side
All my aftermarket wheels were 8" until now with 225mm tires
225 - 203mm (8") = 22mm or 11mm each side

Like you said, it is right in the good range.

16 mm each side of the rim...I think it is decent to think it will be allright regarding fitting. There is no huge diff with 225mm tire on 8" rim

After reading this topic now I'm a little concern. I just ordered a set of STERN ST-1 Beast Wheels (19x8.5/+38 Offset) & Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta Tires (235-35-19).

Now, it's a Gen 1.5 Solara Sle V6 dropped using Tein S-Tech Springs, Tokico Struts with Rolled F/R Fenders. Will my set up even clear?

I'm pretty sure it will be a close call...but there is always way to make it fit right when it is close...by playing a bit with the camber

Would I be better off if switch to a 225 size?
