Haha, crisp if you only knew. In a good 4 weeks it's gonna be summer! And then in about November it's Fall, and then Dec.-Jan. is Winter. Summer always wins here. Period.

I also heard from one of my buddies that because there's no heat shield, everything will get significantly warmer. He said I might even lose performance from this, is this true?

This should help cut down the under hood heat.

mluu - Headers are for a lot of things. They add torque and HP for one, and reduce overall weight for another. It's a performance upgrade that has gains as well as sounds better.

vin - Have you tried that tape stuff? Good find as well, I'm interested in getting some! Where can I get it? The only downside is that it makes it look like a mummy :(.

I have used the insulating tape before; it does work great but looks like crap... supposedly adds power by keeping heat in, which keeps the exhaust moving quicker and keeps the rest of the engine cooler. I use thermo-barrier coatings nowadays; it costs a bit more, but a coated header works just as good as a wrapped one, and looks awesome too- which is important on an I-4 where the header is the first thing you see. You can send them out to get coated at places like Jet Hot... oh and like everyone was saying, flip that heat shield on your intake; it'll help now more than ever!
