Hey i'm hmm.. sorry but I don't mean to be a smart as s but... I thikn i'm still right over all the other Solara guys that you asked...
I dug up the folder of the Solora headlight conversion I did a while back and I found a picture of the stock projector I took that shows this "flap" of metal that you can push down to cover up the hole.
No welding or anything is required. I did tested this simple method with the projector out of the headlight, but it can be done with it in the headlight as well. At lesat I can see it being bent and it doesn't break off. You just want to cover it enough to prevent light from going thru, it doesn't need to be completely flat with the shield.
