Here's what i found from one of the car part sites:
The IS series is INJEN's traditional high performance, underhood short ram intake system that is placed in the stock location of the factory air box system. All INJEN intakes are individually designed, tuned, and dyno tested to maximize horsepower and torque for each specific application. The INJEN cold air intake extension is the only product on the market today to tag weld a CNC machined bracket onto the car intakes extension to prevent moving and vibration. All INJEN intake systems are manufactured from CNC mandrel-bent 6061, T6 aluminum alloy. INJEN intake systems also feature TIG-welded fittings and brackets for strength and durability. INJEN IS series intake systems come complete with 4-ply nylon reinforced silicone hoses, stainless steel clamps and bolts, easy step-by-step installation guide, INJEN decals and an INJEN license plate frame. To compliment the IS series intake systems, INJEN also includes its very own hi-performance air filter that features a built-in velocity stack that makes an additional 1-3 hp. Each system is also CARB approved (50 State Legal) or pending C.A.R.B approval.

i bought mine used too...what i had in my package was the pipe, filter, heat shield, and some bolts and clamps. All i really had to buy was a intake coupling kit from kragen to install it onto my car.

I guess it depends on the product you get - mine had the intake, sleeve connector (conects to intake manifold), a plug for one of the holes on the intake and the filter. No heat shield, but I did get a lic plate frame as well. ;)

Don't forget to drill out the nipples. (There's a sentece for ya!) See the Tut by Phreak'd if you don't know what I mean. They all seem to arrive plugged with "chrome".

FYI- You may have already done your research, but you may want to check into the Yellow Top too. It's geared more for performance while the car is running, versus the Red Top geared for performance when cranking. Bass thumpers prefer the Yellow. But either are a superior battery.

Yes, you're right... did a little research and found that Yellow Top is the way to go in my ride. I had Red Top in my Tundra, but that was because it was an off-road machine and that's what's recommended.

On the other hand, I might wanna consider a Blue Top since my Solara still rides like a boat on the OEM shocks and tires! :drinking:

What do the instructions say?

Mine came with step-by-step instructions... but it also didn't look like that!

You must have more hoses on the 4 Cyl. ;)

instructions say but its confusing cuz the black nipple thing doesn't fit where i think it goes and then red one still leaves the opening on the hole thing near where the filter goes...
i guess i gotta get a ruler out
help from someone who has a 4 cyl would be greatly appreciated ^ ^

Tact... lend a hand! He'll know. V6 has a different hose setup so I don't know if that's even the right pipe. I don't recall anyone mentioning a heatshield either. Hard to believe the I4 needed one when V6 didn't. Is there any model info on the pipe? That may be for another car... but again... I don't know the I4 model.

Use hand soap or another type of lube to insert the black nipple where first arrow is. This is for the vacum line bracket, which I had probs fitting properly. I couldn't fit this bracket on 'cause the lines prevented the bracket from reaching this position, even if i adjusted the postion if the intake pipe. I just used zipties to secure it. As long as this part is not floating around the engine bay, there should not be any probs.
The red nipple is installed at the second arrow. The instructions describe a carbon canister to be inserted here, but us Solara 4cyl peeps dont have this part located here. I used a stainless steel cap to cover this hole. You may want to use this or a rubber stopper to perform this task. To sum it all up, both rubber pieces did not serve any purpose for me. It may be different for others though. Hope this helps.
