Hey, this thread is 6 days old! Time for an update.

I just got an e-mail from Josh (CP-e) that says they are still anxious to fix the MAFci issue on the '06, but they are concerned about Sebastian coming down from Canada, and them not being able to resolve the issue in a couple of days. Lose the customer, lose the test vehicle, yadda, yadda.. They would rather go with someone local. I don't know what they're telling Sebas007, but it sounds like Josh is putting him off.

Biggi_e offered to step in, but he's got an '04. It HAS to be an '06, which is the only year where they're having issues. (Biggi_e: Maybe it's time to trade up to a newer model!)

This is frustrating. HELP!

Yeah, Josh is very slow to give some reponse...seems that you're right. Because that they give me a huge discount on the product if I go there...they are scare to not make it when I will be there...but they don't want to "drop" this option yet. I just want it working...they told me in the past that I could tune it quickly...and now they are scared to not make it theirselves...I will ask him....but I think that they don't have many possibilities since they ask for a '06 V6

Hopefully they're just trying to get the better situation but will end up taking what they can get, when they can get it. Sebas007, next time you talk to him, emphasize that you realize there's no guarantee. They just don't want to disappoint you after that long drive.

Ok, I understand now what can make them slow of response. With what I saw on my dyno chart, I assumed with my low experience, that it was impossible to not get some power from there. It's so rich...and I lost only 0-1 hp...puts some air in there...I'm sure that I will gain the 10whp.

It will not happen this way...Josh Told me that 2.5 days will be good enough but not this week-end...it makes now 2 failling attempts...yeah I ask to be during the week-end, starting from friday to sunday...because I have 1000km (625 miles) run to go (total 2000km / 1250 miles) I have to take the monday to come back. I don't know what will happens about it...I had to 2 weeks of vacantion in July...I could be there during the week.

I'm phone-chasing them today to ask about something. I'll see if they have any interest in tuning the Gen1 for S/C. that might open up that market a bit.

Great news, Sebastian!

I'll nudge them a little bit about my long standing order to try and make sure they don't back out.

Ok now is for real....July 5th to July 7th inclusively my car will be in
CP-e's garage. I prepare my trip there, it's mostly highway but still a long way 625 miles or 1000km from my home. I make it because I cannot have a better deal than that !! There's some chance that they can't solve the problem, it is a possibility but from what I know about it I think they will succeed to tune it perfectly...I'm scared a bit about air/fuel map that they want to set to (13 all the RPM band)....at high RPM the stock ECU makes it rich from 4800 RPM to 6200 RPM my dyno runs shows me that it becomes under 10 for 1 ratio from 4900 RPM...I thought that Toyota makes that to make the engine more realiable...richer is safer...anyway 13 seems to be a good balance between both wolrds.

You know I'm going to be anxiously awaiting the outcome of the testing, so give us updates. I'll ping Josh too, but I'm sure you'll have a good insight into how well it's really going.

I ordered my CP-e intake in March. At that time the issue with the '06 was only a rumor. I'm glad they were responsible enough to check it out before they shipped. That's the sign of a quality company. Hopefully, all will go well.

Now what about the '07 owners?

The only thing the rich mixture really helps is lower temps in the exhaust.
- it's less efficient
- it's less power.

By leaning it out you raise the temps and you might take a tiny bit off the life of your cat. pfft... who cares. Toyota would prefer this because they have to warranty it for the US mandated period. But if your cat dies at 170K instead of 180K, that's not much of a trade off. And cp-e is honing the tune such that it's peak efficiency/power so the temps aren't extreme... more like "Less conservative".

If you ran extrememly lean you'd burn up valves and cause major damage. That's why you can't run the big pipe without the customizer.

Be safe on the road and thanks for donating. I'm guessing we'll need an '07 now. Toyo really isn't it making it easy for anyone to get a/m parts to us!!!

Thanks down2tech,

yeah I knew the concepts...I just didn't know the right measurements...is true that 13 air/fuel ratio is "less conservative" and it's not extreme...lean mixture starting above 14.7 (I think)...my concern was to not burning up the valves...after reading your reply, it's clear that it's nothing "scary".

By the way Biggie...don't worry I will contact you when I will be there ! :)
